Yeah Stellaris is looking great - been getting really excited on reading the dev diaries.

I think we should get a huge multiplayer game of Stellaris going when it comes out. First day and just explore the universe :)

Balldog 01-01-2016 02:22 PM

Really looking forward to The Division and TC Wildlands

Zelda and Fire Emblem for me

mckerney 01-01-2016 06:31 PM

Some of my most anticipated games:

Persona 5 - At the top of my most anticipated list for the second year in a row, the release is now slated for this summer. Hopefully the series with my favorite RPG in Persona 4: Golden doesn’t get pushed back again.

NieR Automata - The followup to one of my all time favorite games, this time adding gameplay from Platinum Games to the storytelling of Yoko Taro. Before it was announce this was basically a dream combination that I'd never actually expected to have a chance to be made.

Darkest Dungeon - The early access for this was one of the best things I played last year, though I put it aside after around 10 hours wanting to experience the full release. With the 2D dungeon crawler slated to be completed in later this month I can’t wait to jump back into it.

Dark Souls 3 - More Dark Souls is one of the easiest things in the world to get excited about.

Kentucky Route Zero: Act IV - In November Cardboard Computer said Act IV was almost done. The first three acts have been phenomenal, but it has now been 20 months since the release of Act III. Hopefully it’s not much longer a wait, since I can’t wait to return to The Zero.

Zero Escape 3: Zero Time Dilemma - It’s actually happening! The final part of the Zero Escape trilogy is getting made after it seemed like the series was dead. Instead we will get to see what follows Virtue's Last Reward’s ending that set up a the final act.

The Legend of Zelda U - The visuals they’ve shown look amazing and I’m curious so see how Zelda style gameplay will be fit in the large open world direction the game is taking.

Danganronpa 3 - I love this series of visual novels for its dark humor and murder mysteries.

Firewatch - A beautiful artstyle capturing the wilderness of Wyoming and the sense of mystery provided by the trailers is

Uncharted 4 - I probably won't end up playing it this year being I don't currently plan on getting a PS4 just yet but I love the series.

Fire Emblem Fates - Three seperate campaigns of SRPG gaming and a weird face rubbing feature.

Torment: Tides of Numenera - Another entry from last years list, still hoping for a great story driven RPG from it.

The Last Guardian - Like Uncharted I may not play it this year but am eager to see if the long awaited title can live up to the two masterpieces that preceded it.

XCOM 2 - I’ve loved what I've seen of the new direction of playing as a resistance force and am excited for its PC first focus.

Star Fox Zero - I think this is the third game that was my list of most anticipated last year. The gameplay that has been shown has looked fun and I'm excited to see how the campaign plays out after Miyamoto's saying it would be modeled after a TV series.

EDIT: Also really looking forward to the full expansions to The Witcher 3 and Pillars of Eternity to release so I can finish those and Dragon's Dogma's PC launch.

BillJasper 01-01-2016 07:49 PM

I'm looking forward to Zelda U, No Man's Sky and Mass Effect: Andromeda. So far.

Abe Sargent 01-03-2016 02:20 PM

RCT World comes out. We'll if its good though. It was delayed after negative feedback from beta testing to fix stuff. Will they fix stuff?

It's a Paradox game. It won't be really really ready for a few patches.

RainMaker 01-03-2016 08:22 PM

I got Just Cause 3 as a holiday gift. Anyone play it yet?

cartman 01-03-2016 08:27 PM

South Park: The Fractured But Whole (but probably will end up being in 2017)

SirFozzie 01-04-2016 03:17 AM

Rule #1 when you play Foz, Sov and Brian.

Talk Shit?

Get Hit.

we played a pair of games against the same team. First game, they won 3-1. Sov was going for a ball and demo'd an opponent, who swore at him in chat. They then talked shit to us, and of course, we responded in kind.

Next game, we get matched up with the same opponent. I decide I'm going to be Fozzie the Asshole (which is a valid strategy in this game). That guy who started throwing a shit fit? He was their goalie.. so I just ignored the ball and kept driving into him, so he couldn't play goalie. THat drove him nuts, and soon he left the net alone to prevent me from annoying him. We won that second game.

CrimsonFox 01-04-2016 03:30 AM

LOL Troll warfare! I love it!

Ping me whenever you play :)

SirFozzie 01-04-2016 03:32 AM

At one point I just parked next to him, and he kept expecting me to drive into him and he kept bouncing up and down. :) He soon drove out of the net, and didn't return ;)

XCOM Long War Modders Working On Standalone Strategy Game | Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Quote:

The game goes by the name Terra Invicta and it’s currently in “pre-Kickstarter development”, though there’s no word on a launch date for the crowdfunding campaign just yet. The designation “grand strategy” suggests this might be an even longer war and perhaps the tactical battles will be missing entirely? Going off the description on the official site, it sounds almost like a game of diplomacy rather than war:

I picked it up last month. It is a lot of fun...I really haven't gotten into the actual missions yet. I've been mostly doing the side stuff but this game has pretty much owned my PS4 time over the last couple weeks.

Kickstarter - Star Wars Open World RPG

It's finally happening! A 20 year old with no dev experience and no approval to use the Star Wars IP is making an open world Star Wars RPG with the feel of The Witcher 3.

Best of all this isn't going to be one of those RPGs from 2005 that could be made in a month or two.

jeff061 01-05-2016 03:23 PM

3 idiots have already donated $1,500 for this.

I think those are being done as jokes going off the comments. Or people are really excited about a game having the graphics of Battlefront or better.

The Oculus Rift is priced at almost $600 ....oof.

Why they chose to bundle a xb1 controller with it I dunno.

SirFozzie 01-06-2016 10:48 PM

because the Oculus Touch controller has been delayed till the 2nd half of 2016.

NobodyHere 01-06-2016 11:34 PM

Oculus Rift is "obscenely cheap" for high-end VR, co-founder says - PC Gamer

No, $600 is not "obscenely cheap", especially when you originally said the Rift would be in the 200-400 range.

Let's see what Sony charges for their VR. All that's been said so far was it would be the price of a new system.

Oculus Founder Tries Explaining That $600 Price Tag

jeff061 01-07-2016 09:37 AM

I really don't think $600 is that bad for an early adopter price that will surely drop as it gets more mainstream and mature.

Their justifications for the price are pretty horrible though, they should STFU. The people willing to spend $600 are going to with or without an explanation.

Hands On: XCOM 2’s Brutal Difficulty And Superb Tactical Overhaul | Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Just remembered I preordered this a couple months ago when it was available for around $35. Less than a month away now, can't wait! I may have to fail horribly at a campaign in Enemy Within to get ready.

Pretty much. I'm not going to be an early adopter because not only is $600 a little high for my budget, but I would also need to make some major upgrades for my PC.

That being said, I don't think $600 is bad at all for the first generation of something like this in technology. Did they bungle the communcation and managing of expectations? They sure did. The price isn't bad when you compare it to other areas of technology, though.

thesloppy 01-07-2016 11:23 AM

Spending $600 on VR glasses doesn't seem any crazier than buying a $1000 video card (neither makes a lick of sense to me), and there's dozens of those on offer.

I haven't been paying close attention but I think it has something to do with the first claim that was made for the price.

Their other problem is that the console versions of the VR tech are going to be far lower than that price point.

Just a heads up, I'm going to start my stream at 7, not 8 tonight.

And for the first time, I'll be using Twitch's archival feature, so, if you miss the insanity you'll be able to watch it later.

TEW 2016 has been announced with a Q2 release. I am excited for this one.

MizzouRah 01-14-2016 02:55 PM

As we get closer to Xcom 2, the videos I've watched seem like they really have done a lot with the sequel. Mainly.. it's much quicker to get into the action and not have to spend time finding the aliens. Tons of weapon customization too.

jeff061 01-14-2016 03:11 PM

Interesting read on the explosion of e-sports.

Esports is having a moment

jeff061 01-14-2016 03:49 PM

People can mock e-sports if they want. Doesn't change the fact that, personally, I find them very entertaining. I used to sit down, beer in hand and watch Starcraft II matches. Uber dork? Maybe, but it was entertaining. It's not boring twitch or people playing Fallout, it is legit fierce competition featuring elite players that do things I couldn't dream of.

Honolulu_Blue 01-14-2016 04:17 PM

I am very excited about XCom 2. I played the hell out of XCom: Long War, but finally got burned out by the grinding nature of it. I saw the pattern that was taking shape and I knew it wasn't going to be fun. That said, I do miss it.

I have no problem with e-sports. I have tried to watch some "League of Legends" matches, but I've never really played any of those types of games and I have no idea what's going on. At all. I could probably follow a Starcraft II match, since I played the original Starcraft, but between the amazing speed at which these guys play and not having a firm concept of what's happening, it's largely just a lot of noise, yelling, and flashing lights to me.

I care about the NFL the most still, but the League of Legends pro scene is very clearly #2 for me. College football is a very, very distant 3rd behind pro LoL at this point. Its been that way for about 3 years now.

I don't care at all about the "is it a sport" argument, that is 100% irrelevant. Its a legitimate professional competition, whether it gets or deserves "sports" designation. The mainstream coverage is pretty bleh too, its typically extremely ignorant. People care way too much when Colin Cowherd says "esports is dumb, stupid nerds", and people give way too much validation to Mark Cuban saying "esports is awesome, you guys are awesome!"

But Rick Fox did buy a team (that has a terrible roster outside of one player and is likely to struggle), and a couple guys who are part owners in the Sacramento Kings are part of a group that bought another team, there is some serious money coming into the game now. Its gonna be interesting to see what that does to things.

MizzouRah 01-14-2016 05:54 PM

I'm dusting xcom off tonight. :)

Neuqua 01-14-2016 05:58 PM

I had no idea something like esports existed.
