2015 Top Gun Game A draft thread

For reference:

Game Rules

1) Participants sign up to play in this thread. I will break up participants into groups to try to keep group sizes between 8 and 12 participants.
2) Each participant drafts a team of 6 players participating in the NCAA Tournament. Each participant must draft a player from a team seeded 10-16.
3) Participants' teams will be formed by a snake draft conducted in a separate forum thread.
-----a) The draft will start immediately after the Selection Show and run until complete. If not completed by Thursday morning, I will auto-fill participants' teams according to lists or my own judgment.
-----b) A draft clock will run from 10am to 6pm EDT each day. During this window, each participant will have 1 hour after the previous selection to draft a player. After 1 hour has elapsed, subsequent participants may cut in line to make selections. The skipped participant may back-fill their selection at any time. (NOTE: this rule relies on participants PMing the teams after them in the draft order. I will use discretion to resolve circumstances involving missed PMs and skipped picks.)
-----c) Please do not sign up if you are unable to 1) participate during the day, 2) send in lists, or 3) be content to back-fill your way to a title like Karl can.
4) Participants' teams scores equal the sum of the teams' players' scoring in the NCAA Tournament.
5) Play-in games do not count towards the standings unless a player is drafted before his team's play-in game and his team loses its play-in game.

Logan 03-14-2016 08:05 AM

Always a fun time. Let's go!

Sublime 2 03-14-2016 08:32 AM

1.1 Denzel Valentine, MSU

Vince, Pt. II 03-14-2016 09:18 AM

Damn you.

1.2 Perry Ellis, Kansas

henry296 03-14-2016 09:27 AM

1.3 Brice Johnson, UNC

britrock88 03-14-2016 09:56 AM

For stevew,

1.4 Buddy Hield, Oklahoma

Logan 03-14-2016 10:03 AM

Can't believe Hield almost fell to me. I really didn't like this slot, would have preferred to be later on in the 1st/early 2nd with how top heavy it seems this year.

1.5 Malcolm Brogdon, Virginia

Logan 03-14-2016 10:57 AM

I did PM tarcone, BTW.

Vince, Pt. II 03-14-2016 11:35 AM

It was hard passing on Hield even though I don't see Oklahoma going far in the tournament.

Logan 03-14-2016 11:49 AM

So am I supposed to PM the next man up once time expires? I see it's Karl here...and he's a perpetual list guy. I'll PM brit to see what the move is.

Karlifornia 03-14-2016 12:38 PM

I sent a list....I leave for class in 5 minutes. I'll be back at 4 eastern

britrock88 03-14-2016 12:48 PM

Yep, covering Karl's list now. Been a busy day for a would-be draft mod.

britrock88 03-14-2016 12:49 PM

For Karl:

1.7 Wayne Selden, Kansas

tarcone 03-14-2016 01:18 PM

picking

tarcone 03-14-2016 01:20 PM

1-6 Melo Trimble Maryland

Vince, Pt. II 03-14-2016 01:20 PM

Of course today we get a major gas outage. I've got 2,500 customers without service due to a sinkhole. I'll try to get a list together before shit really hits the fan, but I may be spotty for the rest of the afternoon.

B & B 03-14-2016 01:27 PM

Grayson Allen - Puke

murrayyyyy 03-14-2016 01:29 PM

1.9 Dillion Brooks, Oregon

murrayyyyy 03-14-2016 01:29 PM

2.1 Jamal Murray, Kentucky (great last name)

B & B 03-14-2016 01:30 PM

Josh Hart, NOVA

britrock88 03-14-2016 02:30 PM

For Karl:

2.3 Sheldon McClellan, Miami

PMing tarcone.

stevew 03-14-2016 02:43 PM

You can skip me this round if necessary. Will have a list later tonight.

tarcone 03-14-2016 03:12 PM

2-4 Trevon Bluiettt Xavier

PM Sent

Logan 03-14-2016 03:16 PM

2.5 Tyler Ulis, Kentucky

Logan 03-14-2016 04:02 PM

I didn't see steve's post so I PMed him. I'll follow up with a PM to henry giving him 15ish minutes.

henry296 03-14-2016 04:16 PM

2.7 Jakob Poeltl, Utah

That works. I wanted to try not to screw Steve over too badly. Now that the clock has rolled over to tomorrow for Vince, we should be good.

Keep picking overnight, folks! 6 rounds in 3 days takes some vigilance. :)

Vince, Pt. II 03-14-2016 04:50 PM

2.8 Jalen Jones, Texas A&M

Sublime 2 03-14-2016 04:53 PM

2.9 Kyle Wiltjer

stevew 03-14-2016 04:54 PM

2.6 Justin Jackson UNC

stevew 03-14-2016 04:55 PM

Sublime gets another, then back to Vince and Henry and PM me and I'll pick someone.

Sublime 2 03-14-2016 04:58 PM

3.1 Kris Dunn

Vince, Pt. II 03-14-2016 05:11 PM

3.2 Bryn Forbes, Michigan State

henry296 03-14-2016 05:17 PM

3.3 Devin Williams, WVU

stevew 03-14-2016 05:27 PM

3.4 Georges Niang Iowa State

PM'd logan

Logan 03-14-2016 09:10 PM

Sorry for the holdup guys.

3.5 Ron Baker, Wichita State

Edit: just a heads up, I changed my pick after a few minutes. I left my list at work and blanked on someone I had higher. If that's not kosher, it's totally cool and I'll switch back. Honestly not sure if we've dealt with that before.

tarcone 03-14-2016 10:16 PM

3-6 Yogi Ferrell Indiana

PM sent

Damn. Was really hoping he'd swing back around.

stevew 03-15-2016 06:34 AM

I forgot to make a list and I'm busy but I'll try to get on to make my 5th rounder so feel free to skip me in the 4th

britrock88 03-15-2016 09:02 AM

Karl's pick:

3.7 Jaysean Paige, West Virginia

B & B 03-15-2016 09:46 AM

3.8 Danuel House, A+M

murrayyyyy 03-15-2016 09:48 AM

3.9 Elgin Cook, Oregon

murrayyyyy 03-15-2016 09:49 AM

4.1 Tyler Dorsey, Oregon

That's a bold strategy Cotton... Let's see if it pays off.

Ha...interesting and good luck. I think at this point you've committed yourself to throwing a few real bucks down on them. 14/1 from what I saw on CBSS.

B & B 03-15-2016 09:53 AM

My favorite part of the draft is the strategic aspects.

4.2 AJ Hammons , Purdue

Ah I had him targeted as my next pick.

B & B 03-15-2016 09:56 AM

Going into my 3.8 pick, I had three guys targeted.

The goal was to take one, and hope that murrayyy didn't take BOTH of the other two.

Mission accomplished.

(quack quack)

I think sitting in the 9 hole I felt "lucky" to have a 1 seed drop to me that averaged 80 pts a game. I originally had Allen and Murray marked for my b2b picks thinking someone would take all the 1's and 2's before I got a chance. As soon as the best 1/2's starting having their 2nd best scorer taken I figured there was really no other option besides taking some Cal kids.

I can get Oregon +225 just to make the final four right now. That's about as far as I'd trust them with a future bet.
