Four Decades of the Best - OOTP17

Putting together the team lists and then setting up the league. This will be a slow league that I will try to detail as best possible.

I am putting together 4 leagues. Each league will be setup based on the last year of that decade (actually crosses decades) with the best teams from the previous ten years represented for each team that was in the league during the last year of that decade.

Will be a no trade, no injury, no move league so the players that played should get the most action.

The 4 leagues will be:

1976 through 1985
1986 through 1995
1996 through 2005
2006 through 2015

Each league's champion will then play in the final tournament between the leagues (will associate the leagues and setup a playoff of 7 games for each round for only the league champions).

Crap, was hoping to start this tonight... or at least get it setup. OOTP just pissed me off; I have to start from scratch. Had the 4 fictional leagues created. Deleted the teams from the league, removed all free agents that were dropped from the fictional teams. Loaded each team into the 1976-1985 league then decided to save my work.

Problem is, after saving it completely deleted the other three leagues. Is there a way to add leagues after the game has started? I can't find anything that jumps out at me.

TheRivals40 04-01-2016 11:06 AM

Yeah

GAME-->Game Settings-->Global Settings-->Available Global Actions-->Add a new league to this game

EagleFan 04-01-2016 11:18 AM

Thank you!!!!!!

That was one place I didn't look. In another location I found "Add Minor League" but not this option.

EagleFan 04-02-2016 08:31 AM

Starting this up today but still debating on whether to slow play it or not. Yesterday would have been opening day. Thinking about just posting yesterday and today and then doing a day at a time to make it real time.

Probably will only do opening day this way. Wanted to see how well it could work. Will probably do a week at a time and post summaries after this. Then maybe go back to more detail as the pennant race heats up.

EagleFan 04-03-2016 10:11 PM

Updated opening day for league 3. Will do league 4 tomorrow and then start simming a week at a time with only highlights posted. May slow it back down for select games as the pennant race heats up later in the season.

EagleFan 04-04-2016 06:55 PM

I must have missed clicking the interleague play for that last league. The schedule is going to be weird but it looks like it all works out about the same length as the other leagues so we'll go with it.

This will continue. I just rage quit that night as the formatting was killing me. The first week's set was pretty easy to format, each one needed just a couple tweaks and it was consistent throughout. This week's has killed me and isn't snapping into the format (seems like I move one thing and the entire thing gets randomly off).

All Star Games

1976-1985
A 6th inning homerun by Mike Schmidt put the National League in the lead and they would not give that up in a 4-2 victory. The game would see only 10 total hits and the only other extra base hit was a Tom Herr 4th inning double. Mike Schmidt was the MVP.

1986-1995
That National League would lead 7-2 going into the bottom of the 8th when the American League would score 3 runs to get back into it at 7-5. The National League would add a run in the top of the 9th to go up 8-5. Jay Howell would come in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Roberto Alomar would reach on an error to lead off the inning. He would reach 3rd on a wild pitch and ground out but a strikeout would be the second out of the inning. Pete Incaviglia would take a 1-1 pitch deep to left for a 2 run homerun to get to within one run at 8-7 but Bo Jackson would strike out to end the game as the NL wins 8-7. The NL hit 6 homeruns in the win (Glenn Davis, Barry Bonds, two by Vinny Castillo, Andy Van Slyke and Jack Clark) with Incaviglia hitting the only homerun for the AL. Vinny Castillo was the MVP.

1996-2005
The National League pounds the American League 8-3 as both versions of Andres Galarraga homer for the NL. The Cleveland version of Manny Ramirez homered for the American League. The Colorado version of Andres Galarraga was the MVP.

2006-2015
Angel Pagan scores from third on a double play ball to give the National League a 1-0 lead and they would ride that score to victory. Aroldis Chapman is named the MVP of the game as he came in to face the only AL threat in the 7th inning and struck out the first two batters he faced on his way to retiring all three hitters that he faced and preserve the lead.

With less than a month to go the races heat up.

In the AL East the Yankees have a slight edge on the Tigers but the Brewers and Blue Jays are not far behind them. Could be a four team race. Same in the AL West with the Angels holding a two game lead over the Rangers with the Twins and Royals still in striking distance. The next week could be key to both of those races.

In the NL East the Phillies have opened up the largest lead by a division leader with the Pirates, Mets and Expos needing a big week to try to get in striking distance. The NL West sees the Reds up by 4 games over the Astros and the Dodgers are close to being a non-factor.

In the AL the Yankees control their destiny with a 4 game lead over the Blue Jays and no other team within single digits. In the Central the White Sox have a 5 game lead over the Indians and Royals. The West race is a little tighter as the Angels hold a 2 game lead on the Rangers. The Wild Card is a wild race as the Rangers, Indians and Royals are all tied with the Blue Jays just one game back.

In the NL the East is heating up with the Braves holding a half game lead on the Mets and the Phillies hanging in at 3 games back. The Central is crazy as all 5 teams are within 5 games and all have a winning record. The Giants are starting to pull away in the West with an 8 game lead. The Mets currently lead the wild card race with the Phillies, Cardinals and Astros within 2 games.

In the AL East the Red Sox hold a 6 game lead over the Yankees. The Central is a tight battle with the White Sox and Indians tied with 23 games remaining. The Mariners hold a 7 game lead in the West. It looks like only the Central will be a race in terms of division title. The Yankees currently hold a 2 game lead in the wild card over the non central division winner and 4 games over the Angels.

In the NL East the Braves have run away from the pack with a 16.5 game lead over the Mets. The Central sees the Reds up by 2 games over the Astros. The Giants hold a 9 game lead in the West. Only the central divisions in both leagues are the only divisions that could go down to the final week. The Astros, Padres, Dodgers and Mets are all within 2 games of each other for the wild card.

The AL East is a three way race with the Red Sox up by a half game over the Yankees and 2 games over the Blue Jays. The Twins lead the Central by 6 and are comfortable. The Astros are running away with the West as they lead by 19 games. The wild card race looks to be the race for 2nd in the East.

The Phillies lead the NL East by a half game over the Mets. The Pirates have a two and a half game lead over the Cardinals in the Central. In the West the Rockies are up by 5 games over the Giants and are a good week away from being comfortable. The wild card looks to be going to the loser of the NL East race.
