another reason to hate texas
 

May 14, 2003: Homeland Defense studies have shown, once more, how vulnerable American ports are to naval mines. For example, if some terrorists dropped a few mines in Long Beach or Los Angles harbor, shipping would be halted for weeks. Worse yet, drop a few mines in Puget Sound and one in the Panama Canal and you could tie up the whole West Coast, perhaps for months. Why? Don't we have mine clearing capability? Yes we do. But the Texas Congressional delegation strong-armed the Navy into concentrating virtually all of its mine warfare resources at Ingleside, Texas, on the Gulf Coast a little north of Brownsville. The high tech mines hunting ships and equipment is thus perfectly located to quickly deal with nothing. The only important ports in reasonable proximity are
the complex around Houston and that around New Orleans. The nation's other principal ports and naval bases are all far away on the east and west coasts. The ideal solution would be to position some mine clearing ships and equipment at Norfolk, San Francisco, and New Orleans (so they can be use way up the Mississippi). But it's unlikely that this will happen any time soon, given the leverage Texas has in the present administration.

Well, you guys are more trustworthy than the leaks we have here, but that is another story.

Most of this is boring info anyway, I don't want to ever come across as a guy that always knows more than you do. I have met a few in my life and I can't stand a know it all, or someone who always knows someone ect..

This topic just happens to be an area I am involved in. We have to be very careful what we say, and preferably nothing, because we cannot fathom what repurcussions will transpire.

It's not like I think al-Qaida visits this board, (even though I have my eye on IMETTRENTGREEN. :) )

You never know when you will get quoted or misquoted and I like my job, and I want to keep it. But, someday, when all this is said and done, I am singing like a bird!

Geez, how many reasons do we need to hate Texas? I say we've got more than enough as it is.

Here's another reason to hate Texas (man, I get a lotta mileage out of this .wav file... I owe R. Lee Ermey some royalty money or something).

I'm sure you all have very valid reasons for hating Texas. Those reason are wrong, but you can still have them. :D
