Too many short passes

Just I finished my first season and 66 perecent were short passes. Based on data I founded from pro football focus in 2014 the NFL averages as only 50 percent. Yards per attempt were low 7.0 vs 7.3 and per catch at 10.9 vs 11.5

For those with more seasons do you see similar data?
