Newbie Game Plan Question

I want to start controlling my own game plan for the first time. What I hoped I could do was ask Rex to recommend a game plan, like I can for my offensive and defensive personnel, then let me tweak it a little -- but can't see a way to do that.

I'm playing single player, by the way.

Is it possible, by turning the coaches reset game plan option off and on between games, to get what I want? Or is there some other way to gain a partial level of control over game planning?

At this point I want to modify my coaches' game plans without the need to assume full responsibility for them. Is this hybrid approach possible?

Hit recommend for the game plan and then you can highlight a play to remove or find a play in the playbook and click the situation to add it.

Thanks. Somehow I was making this way harder than it is.
