What's your experience with "severe depression"?
 

I've got a LT who, at the tail end of last season, came down with "severe depression":



I'm into the third week of the next preseason, and he's still depressed. Normally I'd just sit back and wait, see what happens... Unfortunately, he's in the last year of his contract, and I'd like to extend him. He's looking for a big payday:



Just curious with everyone else's experience with depressed players -- do I go ahead and sign him long term? Is it like a hamstring pull or turf toe -- eventually he pops up "healthy" and there are no long term effects? He's my best tackle & as you can see, I've got the cap room... I'm also kind of wondering if part of his depression could be related to a lack of long term security, and signing him to a contract might brighten his day... :D
