NBA/NFL Mock Draft Game ($$)

Seeing if there would be any interest in a mock draft game for Thursday? I'd need a full first round mock draft submitted by 6:59 PM EST. 5 points for a correct pick, 4 points for being 1 pick off, etc. $20 entries with winner take all. Here's an example of how I did one (1-on-1) for the NFL this year.

I'll do it live on a shared Google Drive link so anyone can follow along to see who's winning.

Arles 06-20-2018 10:38 AM

I'd be down.

korme 06-20-2018 12:45 PM

Ok. I'll be gone literally all day today but you can PM me a list and I'm down even if it's just 1-on-1. Just by the time the draft starts tomorrow.

Arles 06-21-2018 10:19 AM

PMed you my first round. Seems like a total crapshoot, but I guess we will see :D

Suicane75 06-21-2018 01:08 PM

I'm in like Cinamin.

korme 06-21-2018 03:49 PM

Everyone cool with $20? We can just do the honor system and send to whoever the winner is. I'll post here right at 7 the link to view the mocks in case any late joiners want to participate

Arles 06-21-2018 04:25 PM

Korme,

I just submitted a slightly different one - so make sure to use that one :)

Sounds good. I'm finalizing mine, so haven't checked any. I will use whichever the last one anyone sends so feel free to modify again if necessary.

Ok, Arles and Suicane, here's the link: NBA Mock Draft Game - Google Sheets

Let me know that it works. I'll try to be nearly as up to date as Woj. This was fun putting your lists next to mine - a nice mix of differences. Good luck

korme 06-21-2018 06:36 PM

Three minutes to get a mock in, kids :D

korme 06-21-2018 07:15 PM

Arles is on fire

korme 06-21-2018 08:06 PM

Chauncey Billups' player comparisons are great. I look forward to the entire 1st round of the draft being future Hall of Famers.

Suicane75 06-21-2018 08:21 PM

I'm on such a run I just crapped my pants.

Arles 06-21-2018 08:47 PM

This is such a crapshoot, hope I can finish strong

Suicane75 06-21-2018 09:07 PM

In my defense, I've heard of like 4 of these players before today.

korme 06-21-2018 09:08 PM

Dammit Arles, I'm ready for you to just send me your paypal/venmo info now... you have a strong lead

Arles 06-21-2018 09:11 PM

Let’s not count our chickens yet...

korme 06-21-2018 09:26 PM

Arles send me your preferred information and I will send a payment asap.

Thanks for participating guys. Let's do it again next year.

Arles 06-21-2018 09:33 PM

Info sent. Thanks again for running it and I’ll be down next year as well.

korme 06-21-2018 09:58 PM

For posterity!

Arles 06-21-2018 10:17 PM

From 20 on was pretty rough for all of us. This is a lot harder than I thought

Suicane75 06-22-2018 12:04 AM

Shouldn't I get 4 each for Landry and Simmons? Not that it matters. Congrats Arles, PM me your paypal.

This was fun, should defeinetly do it again for the NFL draft next year.

Arles 06-22-2018 12:24 AM

Sent the PM, thanks! He did the scoring based on the actual player. So, if you look at lines 24 and 26, you got 4 points for both guys.

Suicane75 06-22-2018 10:18 AM

Yeah, my brain was fried by the end of the night.

korme 06-22-2018 12:35 PM

Yeah, if you look at it as a whole it can be perplexing but the points are assigned from the draft position.

How did you all have Bamba at 5th but get different points for him?

Vince, Pt. II 06-22-2018 07:45 PM

Points were calculated based the player picked in the NBA draft, not the player picked in each of the mock drafts. So on the Bamba line for the 4th pick, Trae Young was actually picked.
  • Shorty had Young down at 11, so he got 0 points.
  • Arles had Young as the next pick, so he got 4 points.
  • Suicane had Young at 8, so he only got two points.

Thank you. It's the easiest way to do it across the board as the picks go. Basically the PTs column is points you earned at each overall selection. I don't know if there is a better way to display it, but if you followed along during the the draft I think it made pretty easy sense.

korme 06-18-2019 01:51 PM

Doing this again this year if I can find any interest.

Arles 06-19-2019 10:36 AM

I'd be down. Don't think I have a chance of matching last year's good fortune though :D This year seasons like a massive crapshoot after 3

korme 06-20-2019 11:56 AM

Draft day bump

korme 06-20-2019 05:06 PM

One final bump for the last hour entries.

korme 06-20-2019 05:59 PM

Looks like just me and jbergey22 this year unless we get more in the next few minutes. I'll accept submissions through the Zion pick :)

korme 11-10-2020 08:01 AM

Planning on doing this again this year. Draft is next Wednesday

Draft day bump

QuikSand 11-19-2020 06:36 AM

Sorry this didn't catch on... but that first post with the 2018 NFL draft has me thinking... was that actually a super-dense early first round by NFL standards? I feel like we're used to having close to half flame-outs after a few years, and that group has fairly few. (Sorry, Josh Rosen)

korme 11-19-2020 07:29 AM

Yeah, it's pretty wild to see how well the top half of that draft has turned out.

korme 04-29-2021 07:35 AM

Gauging interest to see if anyone wants to do an NFL 1st round version today. My buddy and I are doing it for $10, and if anyone else wants to join it just makes things more interesting and fun.

QuikSand 04-29-2021 11:13 AM

hit it
