Ads?

Anyone else seeing ads within the threads? Every time I sign in today I see ads within threads. Only used to see them like that if I wasn't logged in.

miami_fan 07-07-2019 09:02 PM

I saw some earlier but it is back to normal now.

Abe Sargent 07-07-2019 09:30 PM

I am still seeing many ads here.

Abe

AnalBumCover 07-07-2019 09:42 PM

Yeah, I'm seeing them right now too.

Radii 07-07-2019 09:57 PM

adblock works on them, its only two ads, tho i do see they're pretty big.

robotom 07-07-2019 10:13 PM

The ads between posts are now removed if you are logged in as a registered user.

cuervo72 07-07-2019 10:18 PM

Right now I'm seeing an ad above the post reply button at the top, an ad under the post reply at the bottom, and an ad under the timestamp in the footer. All of these are new to me.

JonInMiddleGA 07-07-2019 10:23 PM

I can only assume that my AdBlockPlus / UBlock Origin combo are protecting me.

Izulde 07-08-2019 01:46 AM

Just started getting hit with them. On top, on bottom, and corner ads. What the hell is this shit, OS?

stevew 07-08-2019 02:45 AM

It's your theme. You guys probably all use yellow

Thank you. What changed? I like the old style.

Lathum 07-08-2019 09:23 AM

I'm getting them as well.

Kodos 07-08-2019 09:41 AM

No ads for me. I use uBlock Origin and the classic FOFC yellow. :)

ISiddiqui 07-08-2019 11:23 AM

I switched from Yellow and that took the ads out (they were everywhere), but now I am sad as I really liked the Yellow.

Radii 07-08-2019 11:46 AM

oh yeah above when i mentioned that adblock plus fixes it for me, I'm also using the yellow theme. I never come here on mobile so I don't know about that

Firefox + uBlock Origin = no ads. :)

MIJB#19 07-08-2019 01:56 PM

Gigantic ads at times and then there's that blue "Privacy Settings" thingy that keeps popping up in the right hand corner. The content on that settings thingy has a nifty white text on a white background layout.

I know, I know, free website and all...

cuervo72 07-08-2019 07:00 PM

Yeah, just enabled uBlock. Much better!

Izulde 07-08-2019 09:34 PM

Default, Yellow, and FOWL all show ads. The rest don't.

Logan 07-15-2019 10:13 AM

I don't care that these ads have started and I seemingly have no way to block them on my phone.

What I do care about is that they take so much longer to load than the rest of the page that every fucking time I try and click a link, I end up clicking the wrong thing because the ad moves the placement of the link at the last second.

It's turning into a train wreck. I'm experiencing the same thing as Logan describes, while the ads are now also making the typing text a pain, because the loading of replacement ads while on the same page stalls the process of making the typed text show up on screen.

MIJB#19 07-16-2019 03:45 PM

The good news of this all: I switched back to "Sideline Green".

sovereignstar v2 07-09-2021 08:25 PM

It's Shark Week ya'll

sovereignstar v2 07-09-2021 08:26 PM

What a flipping annoying advertisement. Are you kidding me?

bhlloy 07-14-2021 03:31 PM

Yeah the Shark week ad makes the site unusable basically. Fun times.

sovereignstar v2 07-14-2021 03:39 PM

Phew, I'm glad someone else acknowledges it. I'm surprised it took so long though haha. There is actually a second ad that is just annoying and obtrusive. I'm surprised no one has told me that I need to install an adblocker or browser extension yet, though neither should be necessary in 2021.

molson 07-14-2021 04:05 PM

I don't think I've ever seen an internet ad that literally made it impossible to view a website with no way to cancel out of it.

I really don't mind banners, pop-ups, little video boxes in the corner, whatever, but geez.

Ben E Lou 07-14-2021 05:18 PM

I don't see this ad (and hardly any others.) I'm using yellow, Firefox, and uBlock origin, and AdBlock Ultimate.

AlexB 07-15-2021 02:12 AM

I don’t see any ads at all (literally zero) on Safari using the Child of vBulletin 3 skin, no ad blockers or anything else.

Skin change is great advice, thanks AlexB.
