The Fishing thread

Does anyone here like fishing? I love it, I fish a lot and catch a lot of catfish.

I fish rarely. My i laws and family fish a lot.

Ive caught anything from rainbow trout to crappie. Never catfish.

I love eating freshly caught fish though.

I used to love to fish but am fished out right now. I live in a subdivision with a small-mid size lake and I used to take a jon boat & trolling motor out all the time. Back when the subdivision was new we had fishing tournaments twice a year.

Bass, bluegill, catfish, carp but no crappie. Turtles too, I snagged and pulled up an angry snapping turtle.

Biggest bass I caught was 8.5lbs. Caught several in the 6-7 range. Lake record is 10lb or so.

Fresh fish is the best! But the cleaning sucks.

Love to fish!

I love to fish, but it has been years since I have been out. I really like to fish on a boat, and I don't know anyone that has one.

What rigs do you guys use?

For quality, my go to is a texas rigged 6" plastic worm, spinning rod and 8lb test.

For quantity, I go with plastic jigs and 6lb test swimming them just under the surface, twitching as needed.

Best fishing of the year on my lake is late Mar to April time frame.

Caught a bunch of flounder on my vacation this year. So tasty

I bought a boat last year. Went out several times, but then this year, I haven't been out once. Too many family things, then the extreme heat. Finally, I was getting a break a break in the weather and was thinking about going out Saturday, and the local lake has been drained down too low to launch anything.

I keep warning my wife that any day now I'm going to finally break down and buy a mid-life crisis boat.

One of my most memorable trips was in Tampa bay. Me and a couple others got a charter to fish the flats. It was slow at first but then we hit on some redfish. Literally, catching one every 2-3 cast.

We could only keep one each but the captain fileted them for us and we took them to a local seafood restaurant to cook it for us. Great day.
