Man, there are some seriously strong songs in this section of the bracket...
|
Struggled most with
44. Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (1997) 213. Peter Schilling - Major Tom (1983) I like both, Major Tom is a classic but Imbruglia's voice is like ambrosia! (need to see if she's been in HoN) |
real low vote total in this one with about 24 hours to go...

Thoughts: Small voter turn out on this one...and some very interesting second round match ups... Wild Cherry vs Joe Public - our first shutout. Free vs Marshall Crenshaw - terrible draw for Crenshaw...but the interesting thing is Free and Crenshaw combined didn't reach the vote total for Wild Cherry...next round will be very interesting. Deep Blue Something vs Blues Image - thought this would be MUCH tighter. Deep Blue Something's song is a bit like Afternoon Delight in that it was disparaged quite a bit, but it didn't show up here. Especially when the opponent is a solid classic rock song. David Naughton vs Mountain - - Exactly what I expected here. The Contours vs Bertie Higgins - wasn't sure what sort of support Higgins might get, as it turns out - very little. Ini Kamoze vs Nick Lowe - Had no feel on this one...Kamoze was a wild card I wasn't willing to bet against, and it was close. Natalie Imbruglia vs Peter Schilling - Another tough match up...felt Imbruglia was going to win by around 10 votes, but felt there would be quite a few people that would need to think about it first. Vicki Lawrence vs Jean Knight - didn't know what to expect but if forced to make a prediction I would have again guessed Knight's more up tempo song, and again I would have been wrong |
Imbruglia v. Lawrence is one of those "no outcome would surprise me" round two matchups.
