And good series to the Mavericks. They played hard without their star, and performed admirably trying to get back into the series. Good luck to the Spurs in the Finals.

The Chokers have had 2 incredible game 6 fourth quarters in a row.

They have this strange thing about blowing leads at home and doing the exact opposite on the road.

I wouldn't call them chokers though.

How about Steve Kerr? What a gutsy performence that was. Good to see there's still room in the league for a slow footed, short guy. :)

I feel the same way about baseball before Spring training.

...& Hockey as well.. It seems that the NFL and College Football & Hoops are the only "Major" Sports that have it right..

MLB (by far the loonnnngggessstt), NBA & NHL, get a clue.

Nothing ruins Sportscenter like baseball coverage.

...Word out of Bud Selig's Office is that there is a new scheduling arrangement proposal that is going to be discussed at this winter's MLB Meetings. Apparently, the proposal consists of a 810 Game Regular Season schedule for each team with teams playing tripleheaders on a daily basis...

"We took a look at the numbers and figured out we could actually get 810 regulars season games in for each team and we would still have a month or two available for the Playoffs and then be able to move right on to the next season right away.", Selig stated from his office, "People just can't get enough of this Baseball stuff and we're gonna bring it to 'em. I really see this proposal being approved and ratified quickly."

Another possibililty that was mentioned is a 3,240 Game Schedule that could be played over the course of 5 Years.

"We feel like this would be the true endurance test that Major League Baseball strives for. Just think, a team like the Devil Rays who normally are 40+ games out after 162 Games would still be right in the thick of things with an enormous amount of time to get back in the picture."

Let's see, NBA and NHL starts the first of October and lasts until middle June: 8 1/2 months

MLB starts first of April and lasts until the end of October: 7 months

Maybe MLB can go to a tiered system, like they do with soccer. Each league has an upper and a lower division, and they only play teams within the division. Every year a pair or two of teams get swapped between the divisions (or maybe at midseason, to make it worthwhile for the teams in the lower division). So this year, for the AL, the upper division would be *- NY Yankees, Oakland, Anaheim, Minnesota, Seattle, Boston and Chicago Sox; lower division Toronto, Cleveland, Texas, Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit, Tampa Bay. If the swap were to occur today, Toronto and KC would be promoted at the expense of Anaheim and Chicago. Or something like that. Sure it would wreak havok with statistics and scheduling, but it would be fun :) Oh, and a swap then occurs again at the end of the year, based on second half records.

You haven't factored in how boring baseball is to watch - especially baseball on TV. Science experiments have shown conclusively that a baseball season that lasts only 7 actual months seems like 52 years to hapless viewers who have lost their remotes.

Thanks to my TV and satellite receiver both being RCA, my family room TV has 2 identical remotes :D

The NBA season normally starts on October 31st so it's not exactly fair to count October as an entire month.

Mavs made me sad last night. They really needed Dirk in the fourth quarter, since no one else could even get close to making a bucket. Oh well, that's the way things happen in sports...
