A nice twist on Wordle - guess the country based on distance away from last guess

Not sure how much longevity it will have, but I’ll give it a few goes

All that time playing EU4 and Vicky2 has finally paid off!

I've been studying geography for a while for trivia; got today's in 1. The distance clues might be interesting though. I have not as great a grasp on scale.

That sounds familiar. Yesterday's (#16) one was a direct hit for me, which wasn't fun at all for the first try with a new game. Today's (#17) was more challenging (for me, took me 5 guesses) and I have to admit that although I usually know where countries are located relative to one another, the ability to guess distances is not yet part of my geographical knowledge. And I expect it's harder to get used to given that distances are very different for countries closer to the North Pole compared to those located on the equator.

Fairly challenging without a sense of the size of the countries.

Very pleased my last guess was right, as I had run out of countries I knew in that area!

cuervo72 02-08-2022 07:41 AM

Today was a bit tougher. (Three tries.)

AlexB 02-08-2022 12:57 PM

Didn’t get today’s, despite having been there

I sat down with my 9yo son to play yesterday's, explanied the game, and also got it in 1 guess which made him shrug with a "WTF Dad this wasn't fun at all" vibe... maybe tonight will be better

AlexB 02-08-2022 02:21 PM

You have the options to rotate / remove the country image if too easy. I’ve gone with rotated, and it thoroughly confused me today!

AlexB 02-09-2022 02:24 AM

Another fail.

Like yesterday I was next door, but this is proving what I suspected - my knowledge of exact locations of countries isn’t great

AlexB 02-10-2022 01:19 AM

Nope. Definitely not very good at this

cuervo72 02-10-2022 07:40 AM

Got it in two today.

TBH my last guess could have been any one of half a dozen countries. I’ve worked out I know roughly where countries are, but not where they are in relation to each other

stevew 02-11-2022 02:55 AM

I'm so trash at this and it isn't funny. And I got an A in world geography somewhat recently. this last one, I guessed every country around it except for the actual country.

First super easy one in a while today. I guess everywhere gets a turn of being "it".

JPhillips 02-17-2022 09:33 AM

I'm waiting for USA.

Although I will say the scale today threw me off and it took a second guess.

Same with me

JPhillips 03-05-2022 08:45 AM

Today's country looks like a female goose dressed up for an appearance on The Gilded Age.

MIJB#19 03-05-2022 04:28 PM

I stopped doing this after some atol showed up that felt to me too obscure to be guessable.

Yeah, I didn’t even attempt that one!

cuervo72 03-05-2022 09:21 PM

Yeah, it took me five guesses to get BIOT. Have had a much better time with just about all of the others. It's those islands that are a bitch.

I don't mind island nations, but when they're going to put every single island on the planet earth in their game, I won't be able to play unless I use a map or globe to help me out. Which to me feels cheating in this particular game.

Damn, took me five tries to land on Nauru.

cmp 03-08-2022 10:40 PM

Usually takes me 4-6 chances if I even get it right. My 7 year old has yet to take more than 2 guesses.

NobodyHere 03-10-2022 12:45 PM

Might be the first time I got it on the first try.

JPhillips 06-02-2022 07:33 AM

I think all of you will solve today's country.
