Player HTML pages

Hi folks,

I have an online league commissioner who uses DDS and wants to make the switch to FoF but neither of us seem to be able to enable player html pages. We'll need these as not all of our GMs own the game.

Most of these GMs come from OOTP (6.5 specifically) so this is basically a must have. Is it possible?

I noticed something fancy on the APFL site: https://site.fof-apfl.com/player/rating/?id=1 But not sure if that was custom made.

Any insight is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't have any insight into what the game-generated html stuff looks like and how it works, sorry.

But running a multi-player FOF league with a lot of people without game access... I can't see how it could work in any way that would be suitable.

it's even on sale Monday

Hey, no problem!

As for how it'd work, generally we've had GMs manually type up and send changes, or send Google sheets for DDS. We're lucky enough to have a UI for our OOTP 6.5 leagues where GMs can make moves and it puts it on the Commish's dashboard.

For FoF though, without player pages, GMs won't really know player attributes. That's the only reason we've stuck with DDS so far.

FOF's design makes this a really bad idea. Every team has scouts, and as a result, every team sees players differently. There is a csv export of a generic "league scout," which is what the person who coded the pages you linked to is using to show the ratings. First of all, you need to understand that the "league scout" view is often much less accurate than what teams actually see in the game. Also--and this is critical--there is NO "league scout" export of ratings for rookies. Each team sees every single rookie at least a little differently, and in some cases, they seem them radically differently. That's based on that individual team's scouts. Without a player actually controlling a team in-game, they would not be able to see their scouts' impression of the rookies.

Tell them to just buy the freakin' game. It's only like 35 bucks or something ridiculously cheap like that for the amount of entertainment you get out of MP, and it sounds like it's going on sale soon anyway.

Thanks for the heads up. For some reason I have yet to purchase this. Will pick it up on Monday.

Seriously, if your group is looking to advance to a more serious, thoughtful multi-player football game, here's your play:

-everyone go buy the game on sale in a couple of days
-go join this league en masse: https://www.fof-ffl.com/foffflco_forum/forum
(it's a fine league, just has multiple vacancies so could take you all on)
-each of you play around with single player, but get comfy with the MP setup

...and if joining that league isn't enough to scratch the itch, THEN you go off and start up your own league.

This is the way.

Thanks guys!

Let me see what I can do. Half of our users are either mobile or simple mac users (meaning they don't run programs to use windows). I think there's so much dissatisfaction around DDS (another complaint has been running QBs simply just do not exist) something can be figured out.

Probably would make FoF purists cry though.;)

Back to bug you guys - is there any way to edit the staff, or their ratings? And if not, turn them off?

Ben E Lou 05-19-2023 12:05 PM

No. The staff/scouting mechanism is a significant part of the game.
