2025 Adopt-a-team

Discussion here tacked onto '24 thread

We'll do a thread here as we collectively put our minds together on one NFL team for the coming offseason, free agency, draft, and onward.

Poll below will guide us, please vote if you are inclined to contribute.

Why do you hate the Jaguars? Right now, they have a top 3 pick but are locked in at QB. And extra picks in the 3rd and 4th round. Not to mention, replacing a coach.

The Saints would present a different sort of discussion. We'd really be thinking in terms of a 2026 horizon. How much cap to eat in 2025? Stick with Carr next year or throw a young guy to the wolves? Finally move on from Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, etc.?

That might be fun and different. Or people might prefer a team where we can see some results in 2025. It's kind of like when you choose your character at the beginning of a video game from a list and they have that weird one for the veteran player who wants a different sort of challenge.

Selfishly, I'd love it it we talked more Saints, but I'm on board with whomever the majority/Q picks.

Cousins can go to any of these teams

Okay, narrowed down to the Bears and Raiders by the poll above.

Post your best cases here, we will decide based on your articulations here, not the mere counting totals.

Bears seem the most in need of our "help" but since you guys did my still beloved Cards, whatever works for most of us

As I stated earlier, I would prefer the Raiders mainly because I would really like to see them succeed. They are a very interesting case as well, since they don't have a quarterback and can really go anywhere with a replacement (vet, draft, trade).

I vote bears. I think the challenge of “we have the young quarterback; how do we not fuck that up?” Is an interesting one. So much of teambuilding is getting the quarterback. Since the Bears have one, we get to talk about the next step. With the Raiders, I feel it may just evolve into a “do we draft a guy or sign a veteran” taking up most of the oxygen.

Bears gonna bear

Im not sure of what the bears have but the Raiders have a lot of draft picks and cap room to play with in order to improve the team. Its an interesting challenge of building a team without a franchise QB.

This. The Raiders 2 game win streak that moves them to 8th in the Tankathon standings makes it a little more interesting which way you go at QB, but I think all of us would land on the idea it's not worth trading the draft capital to get Shedeur or Ward and then they're just going to try and trade all that draft capital to get Shedeur or Ward so you're in a holding pattern until that is resolved.

I switch my vote to Bears, fwiw from Vegas.
