What franchise should FOFC GroupThink take over for 2026?

Friends, we have established something of a track record...

FOFC GroupThink 2022: We take over the NY Football Giants

FOFC GroupThink 2023: We take over the Detroit Lions

FOFC GroupThink 2024: We take over the Arizona Cardinals

FOFC GroupThink 2025: We take over the Chicago Bears

For the most part, our golden touch has worked wonders for the affected teams... only to dissolve like a sandcastle within a year or two. Kinda like that, to be honest.

Anyway... let's do one of these threads again, and we'll start here. What franchise deserves our magic touch?

QuikSand 01-06-2026 08:58 AM

to state the obvious, all the teams with coaching vacancies are at least superficially intriguing... i like when we have had ample draft capital to work with (aka multiple picks) but even one early pick in rounds one and two would probably be enough to kick that side of things into gear

JPhillips 01-06-2026 09:14 AM

Jets and Browns seem like good candidates.

albionmoonlight 01-06-2026 09:15 AM

Titans.

QB locked down so we won't get caught in a kind of pointless "which QB should we take" discussion.

#4 overall pick is right at a good decision place--Right after QBs and that Ohio State pass rusher

Get to do a hypothetical coaching search.

$100 million in cap space.

albionmoonlight 01-06-2026 09:16 AM

Browns would be my other choice b/c the chaos monkey aspect of everything going on there would be fun to explore.

Thomkal 01-06-2026 09:19 AM

Raiders so we can drive Danny crazy about who they should take #1

Atocep 01-06-2026 09:43 AM

I'd vote for the Browns. Sitting at 6th, QB is off the table to address in the draft. They have 9 picks. You have the Watson situation. You have the Gabriel and Sanders situation. They have some talent. IMO they're the most interesting team this offseason.

CrimsonFox 01-06-2026 10:44 AM

Hooray! it's back!

Raiders firing carroll is perfect! Let's do raiders!

Bobble 01-06-2026 10:49 AM

We already did Cards and Giants. Raiders seems too easy. I like Titans but the bigger question would be how do you de-fuck-up the Browns.

JPhillips 01-06-2026 01:38 PM

The Jets are about what to do with all those draft picks and no QB.

The Browns are all about trying to figure out the cap. Not only is Watson going to have an 81 mil cap hit, but it's 131 mil if he's cut and there's about 51 mil in void year cap hits for other contracts. They need to come up with 12-15 mil in cap space just to sign their draft picks.

albionmoonlight 01-06-2026 01:43 PM

One can debate the wisdom of signing Watson to a fully guaranteed contract.

But what is undebatable is that continuing to restructure him into minsal base salaries was reckless beyond belief.

At no point during his tenure was this team close enough to a Super Bowl that you could justify nuking the future like they did.

GrantDawg 01-06-2026 04:11 PM

Falcons. You are now Matt Ryan, what do you do?

RainMaker 01-06-2026 04:16 PM

Browns would be fun because they can go in so many directions.

QuikSand 01-06-2026 07:58 PM

Browns leaders in the clubhouse. I could be in for that.

LOL

My vote is Browns, as well!

Bobble 01-08-2026 10:50 AM

Are we doing the Browns? I've got "Deion Sanders as Head Coach! " already typed out.

QuikSand 01-08-2026 12:05 PM

Browns it is. Thread to follow soon.

albionmoonlight 01-08-2026 12:07 PM

What did you call it back in the FOF2 days, Q? The Erie Challenge?

QuikSand 01-08-2026 12:09 PM

Indeed, the Lake Erie challenge was my nickname for taking the expansion Browns as an empty cupboard setup back in... FOF2?

Passacaglia 01-11-2026 09:41 PM

After watching the Rams-Panthers game, I was thinking the Panthers would be an interesting choice for GroupThink -- not this year, since we're already in on the Browns, and I'm glad we're doing an AFC team, but it might be more interesting to look at a team that is more middle of the pack than a team towards the bottom next year.
