2026 Milan Olympics

Starts in a little under an hour with curling streaming on Peacock. LFG!!!

Lathum 02-04-2026 12:13 PM

Not even in to the first end and the power goes out in the curling arena

HerRealName 02-04-2026 12:37 PM

I'm rooting for Canada.

albionmoonlight 02-04-2026 01:38 PM

I think that, having already had a legendary career and won a gold medal, Vonn should have stepped aside when she tore her ACL and let an alternate take her place.

I imagine she has a lot of sponsorship money, etc. tied into competing, so I can see why she's putting herself out there. But it still would have been nice to give someone with two knees their olympic moment.

Agreed. Given what must be crazy strain put on your knees when skiing at that level, I just can't see how she can legit compete.

Passacaglia 02-06-2026 01:20 AM

yeah that's why they're doing it

GrantDawg 02-06-2026 06:25 AM

But...why would?....

That is a common skin moisturize for reducing wrinkles my wife tells me. She has offered to inject it in my penis and throw me off the roof to see if I could fly.

GrantDawg 02-06-2026 06:26 AM

Oil of O' Laaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy.....

Sex continues to get weirder and weirder, I see.

All jokes aside, the answer is pretty interesting - bigger dick means bigger suit, which increases the surface area and in turn, the length (pun intended) of flight. The Athletic said a scientic journal reported that an increase of just 2 centimeters in the suit could gain up to 5.8 meters in a jump.

I don't know if there's any actual evidence that anyone is doing it, but where there's smoke there's likely fire. I can't imagine a bunch of scientists sitting around debating topics for a study and this one popping up out of thin air.

Fidatelo 02-06-2026 11:23 AM

So could these guys also be injecting their non-dick muscles with that synthetic stuff that makes body builders look like they have tennis balls stuffed under their skin? That would add even more surface area, no?

GrantDawg 02-06-2026 02:17 PM

And there are other non-medicine way to increase penis size. If your only looking for a centimeter or two, you can just use a pump on a regular basis. (And I know this because I am a sex study nerd, not from experience).

Lathum 02-06-2026 02:28 PM

I avoided this thread all day because I was worried I may get the curling results spoiled and this is the conversation I wander in to.

Ksyrup 02-06-2026 02:38 PM

Olympic-sized penises!

On a completely different note, I am SO f'ing sick of the NBC commercial. Mostly because I have no clue what they are singing in that stupid little ditty. Best I can come up with is, "This is where we go to get HIIIIIGH!"

I'm all in for a study on optimal penis size for injections. I expect there's a Goldilocks size that provides the most suit room during competition.

a-what's going on?

Danny 02-06-2026 03:09 PM

What about someone who is a grower just taking some viagra before measurement?

JPhillips 02-06-2026 04:18 PM

Do you think there was a tailor somewhere thinking these ski jump guys all have huge wangs?

Lathum 02-06-2026 04:26 PM

I would think having a pretty big set is a prerequisite to doing the ski jump.

Thomkal 02-06-2026 08:27 PM

Came out into the kitchen while the opening ceremony was on and yes Shaun White glad you are having such a successful life post Olympics, but maybe you can not talk about it during the parade of Athletes?

CrimsonFox 02-07-2026 01:32 AM

Booooooooooooooooooooooo!

bhlloy 02-07-2026 08:59 AM

Never heard somebody ruin a major event like Shaun White ruined the opening ceremony. Muted it multiple times and eventually turned it off. Nice work NBC!

Yeah it was bad enough that Savannah Guthrie couldn't be there with what is going on with her mother. There is a producer who should have asked him to stop talking about himself so much and two very experienced co-hosts who could have spoken up during commercial breaks.

NobodyHere 02-07-2026 10:59 AM

NBC also needs to find a way to filter out drone noises.

JPhillips 02-07-2026 03:06 PM

Ilia is a hell of a skater, but he has to be hated around the sport. He's so incredibly cocky.

So he's got an inflated ego?

And yes, I'm going to keep Penisgate going as looooong as I can. It's about the only thing I will be paying attention during the Olympdics.

Well, there's not really much else about the games to ... get up for.

I'm sort of flaccid about it.

Thomkal 02-08-2026 06:51 AM

If there should be anyone making penis jokes here its me. :) And I am available if they need an official measurer....

JPhillips 02-08-2026 08:19 AM

Apparently Vonn crashed and had to be helicoptered off the mountain.

Ksyrup 02-08-2026 10:19 AM

I have managed to not see a second of the Olympics and I plan to keep it that way. If I am forced to watch it for whatever reason, I'll make sure not to exceed 4 hours without calling a doctor.

I was shocked my wife didn't want to watch the opening ceremony but it's possible she didn't realize it was on Friday night. And I was fairly certain the Italians weren't going to be as cool as the French were with the Gojira thing, so there was literally no reason to watch. None of these sports/competitions are interesting to me in the least, and college softball just started this weekend so I've got plenty of sports to fill my plate.

GrantDawg 02-08-2026 11:00 AM

Didn't watch the opening, but have watched some curling. Best thing about the Winter Olympics.

NBC taking a lot of heat for leaving the feed on her, with her screaming in agony until they could get her off.

flere-imsaho 02-08-2026 12:49 PM

Someone really should have talked her out of that - she's probably done some real permanent damage and it was always likely she'd crash while attempting those turns without an ACL to balance the forces going on.

GrantDawg 02-08-2026 02:43 PM

She is surgery now with a broken leg. It was a pretty big mistake for her to try to run.

Ksyrup 02-08-2026 03:08 PM

I'd be pissed if I was the first alternate or however they decide who gets spots.

JPhillips 02-08-2026 03:52 PM

Really feel for the Japanese skater. He did the best he could and it just wasn't quite good enough.

I thought it would be good enough to win.

JPhillips 02-08-2026 07:40 PM

The 25-year-old hot black guy from Haiti who finished 64th in his cross-country skiing event has to be absolutely dominating in the Olympic village. He's going to get several golds there.

miami_fan 02-09-2026 12:43 PM

RE:Vonn

I am going to go with what is said with other great athletes. She knows her body better than anyone else and she knew the risks she was taking before she went up that hill. Other skiers don't seem to think the ACL was the cause of the fall. According to them, Vonn hooked the gate with her arm at 70 mph, lost her balance and crashed out. Maybe they are just being good teammates. Maybe they are telling the truth. I don't know if things would have been different if she had two good ACLs. I do think she had earned the right to compete assuming that she had earned the right to be on the team through qualification on the slopes. If she was just chosen as a wildcard or if this was a team skiing event like the team skating event, I would probably agree with her not competing.

This got posted on another board, no clue about it's accuracy

Quote:

I wondered about that too, a friend who is a competitive skier said no. Vonn qualified for the team weeks before she blew out her ACL. The ski team doesn’t have alternates, so if she would have dropped out, no one else was stepping in. You qualify for the US team by your points in international competition. So even before the Olympics you are qualifying against the world, not just US skiers. It’s why there’s no downhill skiers from Jamaica, they could be the best skier in all of Jamaica but they have no world points. Should Vonn have skied at all? Thats a different question, but she didn’t cause another skier to miss out.

Vonn qualified for the team in December, she blew out her knee in late January.

bob 02-09-2026 02:04 PM

My understanding is she also finished third place overall in the training runs the day before her latest crash.

JPhillips 02-09-2026 02:21 PM

She definitely hit the gate and to my untrained eye that's what caused her to turn parallel to the ground. I just don't know how much her knee impacted her ability to make the turns. My understanding is the training runs are not at full speed, so this might have been the first "game" level test of the knee.

But if dropping out doesn't open a spot, it's entirely up to her. I get how frustrating it would be to get within a few days of competition and lose out.
