The only way around this is to actually branch from the full release code base and create a code stream for a demo with hard coded values for quarter time and and whatever other restrictions the demo would include. This introduces a bunch of logistical issues I really can't deal with at the moment. That and the fact that you would be restricting the user from experiencing the core feature of the game, which is its flexibility.
