Cal McCarthy (22-0-0 12KO)
vs.
Tommy Warren (20-4-1 13KO)

Background Info
Cal McCarthy quickly rose up the rankings and at the end of 1887, found himself in the top 5. But he had to wait his turn as Torpedo Billy Murphy and Young Pluto fought twice for the title. After Pluto won both fights (first by DQ, second by TKO), McCarthy got his shot last December and won the title by knocking Pluto out in the 12th round.

Tommy Warren has been ranked in the top 10 since the end of 1887, but the occasional lose always kept him in the lower end. However, his activity paid off when he shocked the boxing world with a 2nd round knock out of Young Pluto in January of this year. He followed that up with a decision win over Hank Brennan. This will be his first title fight.

Match up: Warren has a slight power advantage over McCarthy, but McCarthy is clearly the more gifted technical fighter. My prediction is McCarthy in an easy decision win.

Ding.....Ding.....Ding

Round 1: McCarthy comes right out and shows everyone he is not just another no-power boxer. He dropped Warren to the canvas in the first minute of the round with a thundering combination. Warren answers the count and survives the round. (Round to McCarthy 10-8, 10-8 McCarthy)

Round 2: Warren recovers and starts the round off strong, but McCarthy slowly takes control of the round away. A very close round, I give the nod to the champion. (Round to McCarthy, 20-17 McCarthy)

Round 3:
Another close, mildly active round. McCarthy steals it at the end by hurting Warren on the ropes. (Round to McCarthy, 30-26 McCarthy)

Round 4: McCarthy dominates the round and punishes Warren with shot after shot. With about 30 seconds left in the round, Warren could be seen shaking his hand. He might have hurt it. (Round to McCarthy, 40-35 McCarthy)

Round 5: A slow round. Warren barely wins it. He is also warned for hitting on the break. (Round to Warren, 49-45 McCarthy)

Round 6: McCarthy drops Warren to the canvas halfway through the round with a cross to the head. Warren gets up and takes a lot of punishment, but he makes it the next round. (Round to McCarthy 10-8, 59-53 McCarthy)

Round 7:
McCarthy spends the entire round punishing Warren. Warren is taking a lot of abuse and it's only halfway through the fight. He doesn't look like he's going to make it. (Round to McCarthy, 69-62 McCarthy)

Round 8: A slower round with Warren getting a few shots in, but McCarthy easily wins another. (Round to McCarthy, 79-71 McCarthy)

Round 9: McCarthy knocks Warren down twice and opens up an ugly looking cut over Warren's left eye. Warren gets saved by the bell at the count of 9! (Round to McCarthy 10-7, 89-78 McCarthy)

Round 10: A snoozer of a round with hardly anything happening. (Round to McCarthy, 99-87 McCarthy)

Round 11: McCarthy dominates the round. He also gets warned a second time for holding and hitting. (Round to McCarthy, 109-96 McCarthy)

Round 12: Another round with another dominating performance by the champ. (Round to McCarthy, 119-105 McCarthy)

Round 13: A slow round that saw Warren get a few shots in. Enough to steal the round. (Round to Warren, 128-115 McCarthy)

Round 14: McCarthy once again wins big in a round. (Round to McCarthy, 138-124 McCarthy)

Round 15: I guess McCarthy finally made his decision and he decided he wanted a KO win. He drops Warren two more times in the round, and on the second kncok down, Warren could not regain his feet.

The fight ends at 1:11 of the 15th round.....your winner by knock out....and STILL WBG FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD....CAL McCARTHY!!
