THE STARS OF WORLD CLASS ON TOUR
Monday, Week 2, May 1983
Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 1,000 - SOLD OUT

-Pre-Show Dark Match
Chris Adams defeats Black Gordman in 8:52 by pinfall. (C-). Before the match, Chris Adams gave an interview (D-)

-Jose Lothario defeats Brian Adias in 4:37 by pinfall (D).

-Gary Hart comes out with King Kong Bundy and renews his challenge - anyone who can slam Bundy will win $5k. (C-). Johnny Mantel comes out, attempts to slam Bundy, but fails miserably (C-)

-Precious defeats Sunshine in 4:22 by pinfall. (F-) "The crowd came to see real wrestlers" and were pissed off by this match, Sunshine was off her game. After the match, the two continue fighting, stripping off much of each other's clothes in the process (E-)

-Fritz comes out and announces that if Kerry can defeat Buddy Roberts tonight, he'll get another shot at the TV title. (D+) Skandor Akbar comes out, but before he can say anything, Fritz lays down the law - if Akbar can't play by the rules, he'll find his life becoming very difficult. Injuring Manny Fernandez was not acceptable (C-)

-Gary Hart stays out by the ringside area as his new client, The Spoiler, defeats Mike Von Erich in 7:37 by pinfall. Mike was tiring at the end. (C-) After the match, Akbar hands the Spoiler an expensive watch, stating "There's more where this came from if you get the job done". (C).

-Kerry Von Erich defeats Buddy Jack Roberts in 12:55 by pinfall, gaining another shot at the TV title down the road. Roberts and Kerry again showed good chemistry. (B). Before the match, Buddy Roberts hyped his championship belt (D).

-Before Kerry leaves the ring, David approaches for his next match. The two shake hands, apparently putting the King of Wrestling incident behind them (C-). David then makes an announcement. He knows there's been speculation that he'd use his guaranteed title shot to go after Kevin to prove he's the "Best of the Von Erichs", but David instead announces that he wants Jimmy Garvin's Texas Heavyweight Title, and he'll exercise his title shot at the Parade of Champions event. (C-)

-David Von Erich defeats Michael Hayes in 6:50 by DQ after Hayes became desperate and struck David with a chair. (B-) Before the match, Michael Hayes came out and stated how while he thought it was cute that David and Kerry were getting along again, he's there to ruin the family reunion. (C)

-WCCW American Heavyweight Title Match
Kevin Von Erich defeats Jimmy Garvin in 10:56 by submission to make his 2nd defense of the title. (Garvin's title is not on the line). The two show great chemistry (C+) After the match, Garvin tries to attack Kevin, but Kevin quickly drives him from the ring (C-). Precious, trying to prove her worthiness to Garvin, approaches Kevin from behind, but Kevin notices her, bends her over his knee, and spanks her to the delight of the crowd (C). Before the match, Jimmy Garvin cuts a promo with Sunshine & Precious by his side, claiming they're a unified front, all motivated by the advancement of Garvin's career. (E)

Overall Rating: C

Thoughts:

-Now that's a show. Our 2nd best effort in the midwest thus far, and our midwest popularity increases from 42.2% to 42.6%

-Chris Adams taking Black Gordman to a C- is very impressive. It wasn't as good as their C+ match two weeks ago in TX, but I'll take it. Adams has been waiting for his shot in the Bundy slam angle for weeks now, it'll be up to him to deliver.

-It's promising that Hart/Bundy can deliver "C" level angles even when Johny Mantel is the opposition. If Adams get a "B" segment with Bundy when his time comes in the next few weeks, I'll give him a huge push.

-Well, the Precious/Sunshine wrestling experiment is over - that was officially the worst WCCW match since I took over.

-Kerry & Buddy Roberts had an excellent match - it ties the first David/Garvin match from a month ago for our best ever match held in the midwest. It was also nice to see David step up after his disappointing tournament performance, dragging Michaels Hayes to a B-.

NEWS

-Terry Gordy shows up late to the show - of course, we didn't end up actually using him. I give him a warning.
