Recruiting

Three scholarships to fill this year, and $24,999/mo to do it. I want one big man, one steals guy and one wildcard. i've actually got the money to do what I want now.

The big man comes in early, in the first signing period in November. A good steals SF signs in December. An Australian PG fills out our class in January.

Code:
RECRUIT DETAILS #25 C Charles Keller -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Height: 6'11" Weight: 232 High School: Maypearl High School Hometown: Maypearl, TX GPA: 2.43 Test Score: 1060 Rating: *** Attributes: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type INS JPS FTS 3PS HND PAS ORB DRB PSD PRD STL BLK PFS QKN STR JMP STA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current: 66 20 28 27 18 7 38 48 44 16 30 33 39 21 71 36 13 Potential: B F D D D F C A C D B C

Keller looks like a solid big man who can score and rebound and play adequate defense.

Code:
RECRUIT DETAILS #41 SF Mack Martinez -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Height: 6' 8" Weight: 236 High School: Overbrook Regional Senior High School Hometown: Pine Hill, NJ GPA: 2.63 Test Score: 1080 Rating: *** Attributes: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type INS JPS FTS 3PS HND PAS ORB DRB PSD PRD STL BLK PFS QKN STR JMP STA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current: 72 14 23 14 41 43 28 13 15 38 65 24 93 49 53 47 32 Potential: B F C D C B D D B B A C

Not much of a rebounder, but an average handler, good defender, good steals guy and the inside game is pretty nice.

Code:
RECRUIT DETAILS #10 PG Bill Ludwig -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Height: 6' 3" Weight: 191 High School: Hometown: Townsville, Australia GPA: 2.67 Test Score: 1210 Rating: *** Attributes: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type INS JPS FTS 3PS HND PAS ORB DRB PSD PRD STL BLK PFS QKN STR JMP STA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current: 42 21 53 25 41 24 18 2 33 41 61 52 81 96 49 52 54 Potential: B C C D C D C F D B B C

Ludwig would be another good addition, possibly a backup behind some of the top guys I've recruited the last two years, but i really like his defense to go with the average handles/good steals.

Results

We start 5-0 and earn a ranking, #25 in the nation. As we continue beating up on terrible teams we go up to #20, and eventually #12 as we're 10-0 going into January. We quickly lose our ranking, and our ability to win games, as we open ACC play. Late in January we pick up a marquee win over #6 Maryland. We end up with a fairly solid season, we go 8-8, behind the usual Duke/Wake Forest and upstart Maryland.

Conference Tournament

Quarterfinals: (4) Georgia Tech 89, (5) Virginia 87

Semifinals: (4) Georgia Tech 84, (1) Duke 64 - TEEHEE. Down goes duke!

Finals: (2) Maryland 71, (4) Georgia Tech 60

A solid ACC Tournament pushes us to 21-10, enough to get us into the big dance?

NIT

No big dance with our shitty schedule. We do get a 1 seed in the NIT Tournament, one of the first four teams left out of the big dance?

First Round: (1) Georgia Tech 82, (9) Fairleigh Dickinson 72

Second Round: (1) Georgia Tech 74, (4) Providence 62

Quarterfinals: (10) Wright State 71, (1) Georgia Tech 69

Another good run, falling one game short of Madison Square Garden and the final four in the NIT.

Illinois beats Syracuse for the national title, while New Mexico and Stanford also make the final four.

Hunsaker scores 14.7 poitns a game, gets 3.1 steals for a very solid freshman season. Starkey gets 6.9 ppg as the backup PG, my other recruit seeing playing time early on.

Totals: 23-11 (8-8) - ACC Finals, NIT Final 8 - RPI 66
