The flip side to this is that you get cleared if you're right.
Anyway, I've been caught doing that kind of thing before, and I've learned my lesson about not doing that as a wolf. In that case, I was among the late voters in a close race. This is a different story, because you came out finger-pointing earlier, and that just pings my radar if he's good.
It's all likely to be moot anyway -- what are the odds we'll actually find something out about him?
