When you're the only flagship school in a state, you pretty much have to make your rivalries with your out-of-state neighbors.

Really, they have rivalries with both schools. Kinda like how USC has got both UCLA and Notre Dame. One in-conference, one out-of-conference. But the Kansas one is definitely bigger.
