There was a goal disallowed Pens vs Sens in the first round of the 07 playoffs. Crosby's leg was pinned underneath him, as he fell, driving the net. Trying to straighten his leg back out, the puck, on a rebound, hits Crosby's skate and goes in. No goal, distinct kicking motion. To me, distinct kicking motion you have to be aware the puck is in a playable position.
In that case, and this, I'd argue the player (Crosby before and Malhotra here) even are aware the puck is in their feet.
