2012/13 MAC Preview

Based purely on overall roster strength:

1. Kent State - 82 OVR
2. Ohio - 81 OVR
3. Buffalo - 78 OVR
4. Ball State - 78 OVR
5. Bowling Green - 77 OVR
6. Eastern Michigan - 77 OVR
7. Northern Illinois - 76 OVR
8. Central Michigan - 75 OVR
9. Toledo - 75 OVR
10. Western Michgain - 74 OVR
11. Miami Ohio - 73 OVR
12. Akron - 73 OVR

Best Overall Player - Colin Wierzba - C - 84 OVR - Kent State
Best Freshman - Brian Crandle - SG - 75 OVR - Miami Ohio
Best Shooter - Terry Bey - PG - 73 OVR - Akron
Best Playmaker - Clifford Cesar - PG - 74 OVR - Kent State
Best Pro Prospect - Colin Wierzba - C - 84 OVR - Kent State
Best Defender - Michael Murphy - SF - 80 OVR - Kent State

So Kent State has the best overall player, best playmaker, and best defender in the league, and those turn out to be 3 different guys. despite the overall roster strength being so close for us and Kent State, Kent State has to be the heavy favorite going into the season. Of course, the big factor for us is that, while we have an experienced starting lineup, we just have a large number of guys with no experience whatsoever. 4 of our 5 primary backups are brand new.
