Pavelec falls; Coyotes in goalie trouble

March 23rd 2011 - Ondrej Pavelec suffered a groin injury that should keep him out for the rest of the season in yesterday's game against the Detroit Red Wings. With only one other goaltender under contract, Brett Bennett who showed he was not ready by being lit up in replacement for Pavelec, the Kansas City Coyotes are now in trouble between the pipes.

The next game is tommorow in Kansas City against the Chicago Blackhawks. Both Marc Denis and Ondrej Pavelec will be out of the lineup for that game. The Coyotes have signed goaltender Dustin Butler to a tryout offer and he will serve as backup to Brett Bennett.

March 20th 2011: Coyotes at Edmonton, 3-2OT W, (Semenov 5, Pyatt 10, Kaspar 13), Pavelec [W] (22/24)
March 22nd 2011: Kansas City vs. Detroit, 7-2 L, (MacMillan 8, Karamnov 5), Pavelec [L] (9/10) & Bennet (20/26)

Kansas City Coyotes (74GP, 26-43-5, 57 points, 15th in the West)
