NL Rookie Hittin' on All Cylinders in July
Thursday, August 1st, 1907: Youngster Vin Campbell emerged as the latest National League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from New York deserved the honor, batting .417 with no home runs and 13 RBI. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Campbell enjoy the limelight.

Campbell is hitting .372 so far this season with 43 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has 146 hits including 2 home runs, 19 walks and .406 OBP.
Chicago Newcomer July's #1 Rookie
Thursday, August 1st, 1907: Joe Jackson was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 18-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen July's American League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Jackson batted .451 for Chicago, slapping 46 hits in 102 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 22 runs and scored 31 times.

In 107 games this season Jackson is batting .406 with 185 hits and 13 home runs. He has scored 111 runs and driven in 70.
Donovan Tabbed as July's Starter of the Month
Thursday, August 1st, 1907: As Bill Donovan hoisted up the National League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Boston once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Donovan put pressure on the Beaneaters to keep him around by posting a 3-1 record and an ERA of 1.13 over 48 innings last month. He also rolled up 17 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Boston and to every other team in the league.

So far this year Donovan has 8 wins and 10 losses and a 4.00 ERA.
