Butler Twirls Freedom to Shutout Win
Monday, July 26th, 1976: Before the game Chandler Butler liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Freedom pitcher whitewashed the Mexico City Aztecs 10-0.

Butler said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."

The Washington starter held Mexico City scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 10 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Aztecs manager said in his postgame interview.

"When that happens, you usually lose."

This season Butler has crafted a 9-7 mark with a 3.43 ERA in 147 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .266 against him and he has 86 strikeouts.
