Boston Whitewashed by Zavala
Pablo Zavala of the Apex Assassins was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Boston Settlers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 4-0 shutout.
In the postgame comments, the Boston skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Apex hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 1 hit in his complete-game effort.
Zavala told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
This year Zavala has gone 2-2 with an ERA of 3.26 and has 26 strikeouts in 49.2 innings.
