The trade for Brazilian midfielder Lincoln from Galatasaray was cancelled today. Liverpool had already agreed on a contract with Lincoln but Andriy Voronin did not manage to come to an agreement with the Turkish team. Andriy Voronin's agent has indicated that his client has rejected the contract offer from Galatasaray because he felt he is deserving of a better basic salary and he was looking for the manager to give him assurances of a key role in the team. At this point it’s unclear if Liverpool will continue to bid for Lincoln.

Just two week before the start of the regular season Liverpool play there second to last friendly and this time most of the players expected to start the season is in the starting line-up including both Torres and Gerrard.

MATCH REPORT:
Bury 0 - 3 Liverpool (Friendly)
Liverpool produced a good display this evening to see off the challenge of Bury at Gigg Lane. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool the lead with a screamer from the edge of the area in the 12th minute. An error from Danny Carlton allowed striker Fernando Torres to score a placed shot which hit the inside of the post before crossing the line. The last goal of the game came from forward Ryan Lowe whose 45th minute own-goal will undoubtedly cause him some embarrassment. Once again the second half was used to give some new talent a chance to shine without it resulting in more goals.

Liverpool has tried to put together a new deal for Galatasaray midfielder Lincoln. Unfortunately the lack of cash is hurting them and at this point it looks unlikely that a deal will be done. That means that LFC likely will start Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt as the attacking midfielders on opening day. Dirk Kuyt have played very well in the friendly games and got he second highest rating (7.27) only behind GK José Manuel Reina (7.30).

The new boss on Anfield road don’t talk much to the media but today Liverpool’s GM Thomas Northwood indicated that he is thinking about launching a bid to sign R.C.D. Espanyol de Barcelona S.A.D.'s Raúl Tamudo. Northwood stated that Tamudo was currently in his thoughts but no decision will be made until he has weighed up all his options first.

Raúl Tamudo told the Spanish media that he was surprised and flattered with the interest shown in him from Liverpool's Tom Northwood. Tamudo continued by stating that the opportunity to play for a team of Liverpool's stature doesn't come along too often and that if the opportunity does arise then he would give it serious consideration.

What can stop a possible buy of Tamudo is the other news out of Anfield today.
The loan repayment is to begin this month. The club is now required to make monthly repayments of £2.5M towards the £240M bank loan taken out earlier.
