2004 Season, Week 13
Detroit (7-4) at San Francisco (7-4)
*49ers favored by 7.

Terrell Owens (52 rec, 987 yds, 6 TDs) is pretty much their only threat on offense and they have Tim Rattay (68% comp, 1,415 yds, 8 TDs) playing at quarterback, so hopefully we will be able to shut them down. However, Jeff Garcia (63% comp, 1,375 yds, 12 TDs) has been splitting the starts with Rattay. Their defense is beat up, S Tony Parrish and CB Ahmed Plummer are out and LB Julian Peterson is questionable. They play a 3-4 defense lead by rookie CB Dunta Robinson, S Zach Bronson, and DE Osi Umenyiora.

1st Quarter

All is quiet for most of the first quarter, both teams exchange punts on their 2 possessions. The 49ers punt again and we finally get something going, we are able to setup a 45-yard field goal by Hanson just before the quarter ends.

Detroit 3, San Francisco 0

2nd Quarter

On the 49ers next possession they move the ball well but Josh Scobee misses a 53-yard field goal. We are unable to capitalize on the field position and the 49ers get moving again. Then Rattay is intercepted by Wayne at our 13 and he returns it 28 yards with 1:20 left in the half. Manning runs a nice two minutes offense and we get a 32-yard field goal by Hanson as the half ends.

Detroit 6, San Francisco 0

3rd Quarter

On the 49ers second drive of the half Rattay hits Tony Simmons for a 34-yard gain then hits Cedrick Wilson for a 10-yard touchdown to give them the lead. On the ensuing kickoff Jenkins returns it 67 yards and on our next play Jackson breaks free for a 21- yard touchdown run! Their offense is starting to get some momentum until Jamal Robertson fumbles and Wayne recovers it at their 43. The quarter ends with us inside their 5.

Detroit 13, San Francisco 7

4th Quarter

Their defense holds up and we settle for a 21-yard field goal by Hanson. We force a punt on their next possession and get the ball back with 11:44 left. Manning and the offense put together a great clock eating drive and add a 40-yard field goal by Hanson with 2:52 left. On their second play of their next drive Luke Hall fumbles and Donte Curry recovers! We are able to eat up some more clock before we punt and stop them on 4 plays then take a couple of knees to end the game.

Detroit 19, San Francisco 7

Another great win, this season has turned into a miracle! Our defense held their offense to just 258 yards of total offense. Our running game was excellent - Anderson (19 car, 87 yds), Jackson (12 car, 52 yds, TD) and Faulk (2 car, 25 yds) combined for 175 yards. Manning (16/25, 111 yds) played mistake free football. Despite Wayne's (6 tkls, 2 asts, 1 fr, 1 int) great game Hanson was named player of the game.

After the game our trainers cleared several players for next week's game, only Rogers is out.
