Go Fight Win! - A UNLV Rebels TCY/FOF Dynasty

Okay, after the excruciating headache that was the restrictive UW-La Crosse dynasty, I've decided to drop that one and start a UNLV dynasty. Higher prestige school and conference without being overly so in either case, plus we get some bowl tie-ins, although for some reason the Mountain West #1 isn't listed, but Mountain West #2-4 are.

As most of you know, I'm taking the Rebels because I'm going there for the MFA in Creative Writing program in the fall. And can I just say, I hope to heck Coach Hauck brings back the names on the back of the jerseys. The previous coach, may he burn in uncomfortable places for the remainder of his days, stupidly took the names off and to me, nameless jerseys look ugly.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of Vegas Things That Used To Be That Aren't Anymore:
1. Names on back of football jerseys
2. Wet n Wild waterpark
3. MGM theme park
4. UNLV Delta Sigma Phi chapter

I miss all four of those things, but it is what it is.

There will be no recruiting restrictions in this dynasty. That ruined a lot of the fun for me in the UW-La Crosse dynasty but I couldn't change it midstream. I felt too committed to the precedent I'd set.

Oh wait. There will still be a couple recruiting restrictions.

Quote:
1. All Nevada recruits will be fair game, because of that school to the North.
2. The one red and zero black from UW-L dynasty will still apply to out of state.

I think that will still keep some of the recruiting challenge intact without ruining the fun.

Not that this matters to anyone, but I made graphical changes. Grey background, scarlet text in most places, but for the lists and the roster screen, it's all white. Quite a change going from the two-tone setup I had in previous dynasties to all white, but it looks a lot cleaner. It looks especially clean in the recruiting screen, which should cut down on the number of headaches I used to get.

But enough rambling. You want to hear about the dynasty itself.

The standard roster breakdown:

Code:
McHenry, Mercury 9 QB Jr* 22 40 Odom, Nick 14 QB So* 11 47 Garner, T.J. 15 QB* So* 6 49 Webster, James 6 QB* Fr 10 24

Young crop of signal-callers. McHenry is far and away the best of these guys, both now and in the future. Interestingly enough, McHenry and Odom are both from Silverado High School here in Vegas and played right after each other in high school. It's my hope that Odom never becomes a starter, though.

Code:
Blufer, Les 25 RB Sr* 30 45 Montgomery, Joseph 41 RB Jr 37 44 Jackson, Nolan 39 RB Jr 29 29 Wolfe, Jared 28 RB So* 13 40 Singleton, J.J. 20 RB* Jr 20 20

Montgomery is the clear-cut #1 back. We'll need to do some recruiting in this area, as none of these guys are worth redshirting in my opinion, and I don't want a trainwreck next year with so many senior tailbacks.

Code:
Carello, Tommy 26 FB Fr 18 35 Lynch, Arnie 48 FB Sr* 45 55 Fulton, Isaac 22 FB Jr 25 38

I think I'm going to go with a fullback offense in this dynasty. The inability of my singleback RBs at UW-L to do much ticked me off, so I think going with the traditional I-formation will help. Especially since we've decent players here. Carello will redshirt if I can help it.

Code:
Tatum, Harris 98 TE Sr* 23 30 Sweeney, Marty 88 TE Sr 28 28 Compton, Pete 80 TE* Fr 8 19 Branch, Cole 89 TE* So 19 22

I'll probably start Sweeney, as he's the best blocker of the bunch. Compton has some upside as a blocker, but that's about it. He'll still get redshirted Overall, a poor group.

Code:
Stevenson, Shane 85 WR So 26 26 Hedgepeth, Mike 82 WR Sr 46 46 Lyons, Irv 7 WR Fr 18 33 Kaufmann, Bill 5 WR So* 20 45 Sibley, Quinn 84 WR Sr 38 57 Sanford, Jamie 83 WR Fr 13 41 Hammond, Marco 86 WR* Fr 21 21

Not a great crop of receivers here. Hedgepeth will start and then it's a tossup between a bunch of different guys for the other spot. I'll probably go with Sibley and have Kaufmann and his scads of green as the #3 WR, Lyons the #4 man.

Code:
Kelly, Jim 54 C Fr 0 50 Goodfellow, Louis 51 C So* 16 45

Heh. Jim Kelly. Okay, only two guys on the roster, so I *have* start him. It's too funny not to. Now if only there's a Dan Marino and a John Elway somewhere...

Code:
James, Victor 73 G Sr 32 50 Bui, Doug 78 G Sr* 37 54 Becker, Tony 68 G Jr 19 34 Bradford, Doug 64 G Fr 9 28 Browning, Timothy 74 G* So* 8 62

James on the right, Becker on the left. Bui loses out due to low endurance.

Code:
Hickman, Deion 69 T Sr* 26 26 Humphries, Lance 63 T Sr* 19 38 Linquist, Neil 67 T Sr* 40 57 Levine, Hardy 77 T* So* 13 42 Brent, Marc 66 T* Fr 15 52

Linquist is the lone good tackle we have. Thankfully he's here for two more seasons. Hickman's probably going to line up on the left side, because Linquist is a natural RT.

Code:
Fausel, Mickey 17 P Sr 39 57 Carpenter, O.J. 8 P Fr 28 52 Bryant, Justin 3 P Jr 47 47 Donaldson, Gino 18 K Jr 47 48 Wuagneux, Darren 1 K Jr 64 64 Shumway, Hunter 13 K Sr 59 64

Really? 6 scholarship spots on feetmen? Carpenter redshirts and it'll be Bryant and Wuagneux, the latter of whom wins thanks to his booming leg. I'll buy us some time at kicker by redshirting Donaldson, who should be close to as good as Wuagneux.

Offensive Recruiting Needs
All areas of O-line
TE
RB

We could use more young blood at WR, too. Taking a QB, K, or P would be sheer luxury, but I have an obsession with collecting QBs, so I'll probably go get one in any case.

Feeling a little tired, so I'll do defense later.
