If everyone can remain healthy, we could have one of the country's stoutest defenses this year.

Rockwood looks like he's ready to dominate this year. Short and Nelson, redshirt freshmen, have lots of potential. McWilliams and Van Pelt are solid veteran reserves.

In Miller and Hopkins, we have the nation's #3 pair of outside linebackers, and Austin is a future pro, too. Talley brings leadership and tenacity to the other inside LB spot. Wistrom is a special teams star and a capable backup.

Pierce should have earned All-MAC honors at CB already; he probably will be this year. He is an elite shutdown corner. His partner, Horton, is also very good, and youngster Hill is a future star.

Goodstriker looked like a worthy heir to Adrian Castillo at safety. Senior Farr is a four-year starter.

Hundley needs to step it up some if he's going to hold onto his job.
