1993 Oilers vs. 2009 Texans

The battle of Houston as the underdog Texans hope to surprise a few people. Do they have enough on the defensive side of the ball to stop the Oilers? The game is about to begin at Soldier Field.


1st quarter

**- The Texans start the game from their own 16.
- Draw play to Steve Slaton for 3 yards. 2nd and 7 at the 19.
- Schaub hits Kevin Walter for 15 yards. 1st down at the 34.
- Slaton is stopped at the line. 2nd and 10 at the 34.
- Schaub drops back, throws, it's tipped and intercepted by Bubba McDowell who returns it to the Texans 28.

**- The Oilers start from the Texans 28 after the interception.
- Moon back, under pressure, he scrambles for 3 yards. 2nd and 7 at the 25.
- Moon hits Haywood Jeffires for 5 yards. 3rd and 2 at the 20.
- Draw play to Lorenzo White, he has the first down with a 3 yard gain. 1st down at the 17.
- Pitch right to White for 1 yard. 2nd and 9 at the 16.
- Moon drops back, fires, batted back, incomplete. 3rd and 9 at the 16.

- They are held to a three and out.

**- The Texans start at their own 34 after the punt.
- They manage one first down on a 22 yard pass to Johnson but punt from across midfield.

**- The Oilers start at their own 12 after the punt.
- They take the field position back y picking up 3 first downs but punt from just across midfield.

**- The Texans regain the field position edge on a very nice punt return that has them starting grom their 44.
- Schaub back, looking, fires to Daniels over the middle across midfield. He is inside the 40 and down to the Oilers 31 for a 25 yard gain. 1st down at teh 31.

- Hall picks up 7 yards. 3rd and 1 at the 22. Two minute warning.

- Schaub hits Walter for 10 yards, down to the 3. 1st and goal a the 3.
- Schaub fires into the endzone for Johnson, broken up. 2nd and goal at the 3.
- Give to Slaton up the middle, he is in, touchdown. The extrapoint is shanked and the Texans now lead 13-3.

**- The Oilers start from their 18 after the kickoff.
- They are held to a quick three and out.

**- The Texans start from their 37 after the punt with 0:58 left in the half.
- Foster picks up 11 yards, out of bounds. 1st down at the 48.
- False start. 1st and 15 at the 43.
- Moats for no gain. 2nd and 15 at the 43. Timeout.
- Schaub back, throwing deep to Hall, he dropped it or that would have been a touchdown. A flag is down, defensive holding. 1st down at the 48.

- Slaton gets them room with a 36 yard run but they cannot pick up another first down and are forced to punt.

**- The Oilers start from their own 25 after the punt.
- Draw play to White for 11 yards. 1st down at the 36.
- Brown picks up 4 yards. 2nd and 6 at the 40.
- White picks up 12 yards off tackle. 1st down at the Texans 48.
- Moon overthrows Webster Slaughter but a flag is down after the play for roughing the passer. 1st down at the 33.
- Tillman picks up 2 yards. 2nd and 8 at the 31.

**- The Oilers start the final quarter with a 2nd and 8 from the Texans 31.
- Tillman picks up 4 yards. 3rd and 4 at the 27.

- Draw play to Le'shai Mston, he is inside teh 10, inside the 5, stretched out to the endzone but is marked down at the 1. 1st and goal from the 1.
- Moon play action pass, drops back, fires to Duncan inthe endzone, touchdown. A flag is down. Holding on the Oilers. 1st and goal from the 11.
- Brown picks up 2 yards. 2nd and goal from the 9.
- White picks up 3 yards. 3rd and goal from the 6.
- Moon back, looking, fires but it's batted down. 4th and goal from the 6.
- Del Greco on to attempt a 23 yard field goal. It's good. They pull to within one score at 13-6.

**- The Texans start from their own 22 after the kick.
- Schaub to Johnson for 14 yards. 1st down at the 36.
- Slaton off right tackle, he has room and is across midfield to the Oilers 49. 1st down at the 49.
- Foster gains 1 yard. 2nd and 9 at the 48.
- Moats picks up 4 yards. 3rd and 5 at the 44.
- Schaub hits Daniels for 14 yards. 1st down at the 30.
- Schaub back, looking, fires to Walter, complete to the 15. 1st down at the 15.
- Scchaub back, flips a screen to Vonta Leach, he has blockers in front of him, across the 10, inside the 5, dives, touchdown. The extra point is good and the Texans stun the crowd by leading 20-6.

**- The Oilers start from their own 27 with 6:45 left in the game.
- Moon back, looking, steps up, fires to Brown over the middle, he has it at the 40, turns upfield and is across the 50 and down at the Oilers 46 for a 27 yard gain. 1st down at the 46.
- Brown picks up 6 yards. 2nd and 4 at the 40.
- White picks up 4 yards. 1st down at the 36.
- Moon to Givns, incomplete. 2nd and 10 at the 36.
- Moon back, looking for Givens again, and again it is incomplete. 3rd and 10 at the 36.
- Encroachment on the Texans. 3rd and 5 at the 31.
- Moon fries to White, compelte for 12 yards to the 19. 1st down at the 19.
- White picks up 3 yards. 2nd and 7 at the 16. Timeout.
- Moon fires a wide receiver screen to Jeffires but he is run out of bounds for a 3 yard loss. 3rd and 10 at the 19.
- Moon back, looking, fires down the sideline to Givens, complete inside the 5 and he is into the endzone. Wait, a whistle blew. He stepped out at the 2. 1st and goal at the 2.
- Browns straight ahead, touchdown. The extra point is good and they now trail just 20-13.

**- The Texans start on their 28 after the kickoff with 4:24 left in the game.
- Slaton picks up 2 yards. 2nd and 8 at the 30.
- Slaton picks up 4 yards. 3rd and 4 at the 34.
- Play action pass, the defense bit, he has Johnson open behind the defense and he fires towards him but he didn;t put enough air under it and it is incomplete. 4th and 4 at the 34.
- They punt it away.

**- The Oilers start at their own 25 after the punt with 2:53 left in the game.
- Moon hits Givens for 6 yards. 2nd nd 4 at the 31.
- Moon back, he is under pressure, he steps up and runs for 4 yards and a first down. 1st down at the 35.
- Draw play to White for 4 yards. 2nd and 6 at the 39. Two minute warning.
- Incomplete pass. 3rd and 6 at the 39.
- Moon back, fires to Jeffires, complete to the 49 for 10 yards and he is out of bounds. 1st down at the 49.
- Draw play to White for 4 yards. 2nd and 6 at the Texans 47.
- Moon hits Duncan for 12 yards, out of bounds. 1st down at the 35.
- White sweeps left for1 yard, out of bounds. 2nd and 9 at the 34.

- Moon hits Jeffires for 11 yards and he gets out of bounds. 1st down at the 23 with 48 seconds left.
- Incomplete pass. 2nd and 10 at the 23.
- Moon screens to Duncan and he loses 2 yards. 3rd and 12 at the 25. Timeout.
- Moon back, looking, fires and hits Givesn on the move across the field, he is inside the 10 and out of bounds at the 4 yard line. 1st and goal at the 4 with 19 seconds left.
- Moon back, fires to Jeffires in the endzone. Touchdown. The extra point is good and they have tied the game 20-20.

**- The Texans start from their 24 after the kicoff with 9 seconds left.
- After picking up a first down and takig a timeout the game would end as William Fuller sacks Schaub before he can attempt the hail mary.
