Still could easily see this happening if they wanted to expand out their conference to football and basketball members and drop basketball only schools. You could form a regional division that makes sense geographically with KU, MU, ISU, KSU, Lousiville, Cincinnati, and TCU.

In a present day vacuum, I agree. Taking history into account, though, I would be shocked if the Big East dropped Georgetown, Nova and Seton Hall.
If this eventually does happen, BTW, I can't wait to see divisions named the Big East East and the Big East West.
