Three things stop Weaponskill from getting in it's kill, so that's defense against it. Those are listed - Weaponskill itself, failure to target the foe, and being Healed. All of those allow you to Weaponskill again on a subsequent night. Sorry if the grammar is a bit vague. Hope that clarifies.
