this is my reasoning. however, my hunch is different than your 2 ideas (about what it means for him).
the other thing i worry about is if Batman has conditions with negative consequences for NKing a good person, i'd much rather find out for sure what Danny is up to than wait and have to find out later when he may be more powerful for all we know.
