If the Big 12 does fall apart, I will be really interested to see if the Big East could pull in Kansas, KSU, and Missouri. If so, that would probably give the Big East enough of a solid base to split and still have an outstanding basketball conference and it would certainly form a better football conference than adding some of the CUSA candidates or Villanova.
They could split up pretty nicely into pretty balanced West and East divisions:
East: Rutgers, UConn, Cuse, Pitt, WVU, USF
West: Louisville, Cincy, TCU, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State
Outside of enough of the ACC getting canabilized by Big Ten and SEC expansion, that would probably be the best the Big East could hope for without an extremely radical realignment.
