-- We have a week off but 10 guys (some youngsters) are called up for international duty for a match in between Blackburn and West Ham. The guys that start I issue instructions to only play 45 minutes.

-- Kirkland and Donnelly are named in the EPL Team of the Week.

November 21st, 2020

Ipswich (4-4-5, 9th) @ West Ham(8-3-2, 5th)

West Ham are doing great so far this year and are big 4:5 favorites against us at their house. We're 3:1 to win today. We're 0-1-4 lifetime against them. In our last EPL season we played them 3 times, once in the league cup, losing two and getting a 0:0 draw at home.

GK: Capitani
D: Kirkland/Welsh/Quartey/Jackson
M: Burton/Donnelly/Mills/Gordon
F: Negredo/Constantino

Quartey/Welsh at DC, Burton in for Adagsmar at ML, Mills is happily back in the lineup at MC, and Negredo up front, all changes from our last match.

1': They kick off, go up the right side of the pitch, a through ball into the area.. Welsh just looks completely oblivious as his man goes by. Shot goes in by ST Turner.. saved! But there's a rebound and its put in before Capitani can recover. We are down 32 seconds in. 0-1

11': They have 6 shots, 3 on target, and 4 corners, 77% of the early possession... this is rough.

18': We get our first offensive highlight, Mills with a free kick from midfield.. after a couple passes Mills gets it to Constantino, his man tries to close in and tackle him 20 yards out, Constantino seems to effortlessly sidestep the defender, he's into the area and strikes it near post by the keeper! We've got 1 shot and 27% of the possession but that's all we need so far. 1-1

39': A long break with just a couple of weak tries by West Ham, here though they attack and get midfielder Nsue open in the area as he breaks on to a ball with perfect timing to get behind Kirkland. He shoots from the right side of the area and drills it into the net... the commentary "No keeper in the world would have stopped that shot." 1-2

HALF: Quartey is getting killed out there, 5.1 rating today, Welsh 5.9, Jackson 5.9, Burton 6.1. Constantino kept us in the match with that one great move, but this is all West Ham so far. They have 11 shots to our 4, we have 1 on target, they have 5. Possession did even up a good deal, just 58/42 now.

60': McKerr in for Jackson, Adagsmar in for Burton, in both cases replacing guys who are having very poor games.

73': I tell our guys to attack. Gotta try to make something happen.

76': Khan in for Negredo.

79': Welsh is hurt, he can stay in and we'll check on him postmatch.

89': We win a ball in our defensive end and try to counter, we get it ahead to Adagsmar, a pass to Mills and Mills makes a briliant pass to Khan, Khan pokes the ball ahead with his first touch, runs by his man, shoots from the edge of the penalty area.. and its by the keeper!!! We get the tying goal! 2-2

94': We give up a free kick from just outside the area, its blocked by the wall and goes out for a corner. Corner is taken to the near man in the area, he tries a centering pass but Adagsmar clears it out to midfield, and the whistle blows. Whew!

West Ham 2 : 2 Ipswich

A great result!!!

Man of the Match: Steven Mills (8.0)
Goals: Constantino (7.6), Khan (7.2)
Assists: Mills 2

Jackson and Burton had a 6.0 and 6.1 rating respectively, everyone else ended up faring pretty well in the high 6's. I really like McDonald Mariga, but Steven Mills fits into this offense so so much better.

-- DC James Welsh is out for ~2 weeks.
