Havana's Maldonado Top Pitcher in July
Sunday, August 1st, 2077: A 4-0 record with a 2.41 ERA is a pretty good month for most any pitcher. The Continental League thought it was worthy of an award and named
Eduardo Maldonado, starter for the
Havana Banana Sluggers, July's Pitcher of the Month.
He also held the opposition to a .232 average while posting 21 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.
To date this season,
Maldonado has registered 21 starts, 10-3 won-lost mark, 3.02 ERA, 128 IP, 117 strikeouts and 39 walks. Opposing teams have hit .242 against him.
RL Honors July's #1 Pitcher

Tom Bates of
New York had an award-winning July as he took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.
"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Bates's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in July except for
Tom."
Bates was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 4-1 record in 6 starts. He struck out 36 batters in 36.2 innings and kept opponents to a .207 batting average.

Bates shows a 8-4 record, 23 starts, 126.1 innings, 111 strikeouts and a 3.92 ERA.
