This last round of expansion has finally killed off the idea of a major conference being accurate with its name. The Big East is in San Diego and Boise. The Big Ten and XII can't count, and the one with the elite research universities hasn't been able to for almost 20 years now. The PAC-12 and ACC both have schools in states that don't touch the oceans in their names (Colorado, Utah, Pitt) and the SEC just invited Missouri, which is "southeastern" only when compared to western Canada.
