I instruct Bailey to make a fast start as Khalkevi is poor on starts and that won't cut it in sprints. Khalkevi started from the outside, but broke fast and took second place out of the gate. She remained in 2nd until the final quarter furlong, where she was edged out by a head at the wire. The winner had this one wrapped up early and was never threatened. We still earn $1008.00 for finishing 3rd. Bailey indicates he rode Khalkevi as a closer, which possibly suits her, perfectly suited for the distance, but she hated the surface. | | | | | | | |
