So some random lady on the Food Network was making a dessert and told the camera that the molasses and brown sugar she was adding to the dish would impart a nice cafe au lait flavor to the dish.

Okay, lady. Whatever you say....though as just a random viewer at home I would have probably assumed the espresso and milk in the simmering dish would be the culprits for that particular flavor profile.
