OK, so I need some help here.
Watching the Rockies game. 2 outs, Nicasio pitching to Venable.
Nicasio gets him to an 0-2 count. On the next pitch, Venable hits a routine grounder to first. NIcasio runs over to cover and Helton waives him off "i got this" Helton, being the speed demon he is at 38 doesn't get to the bag in time.
The play is ruled a hit. Am I off base in saying this should be an error on Helton? How can you blame the pitcher who did everything he was supposed to do on the play? The runner is only on because Helton doesn't throw the ball.
A little confused.
Rockies have 6 hits in the game. 5 doubles and an opposite field HR by Johnathan Herrera. Nicasio looks really good. He made a mistake on an 0-2 count that was hit in the seats. Other than that, he's getting ahead of hitters and inducing a lot of easy grounders.
This is the same team that couldn't hit a 49 year old, so I don't want to overstate it, but I'm happy the kid has recovered from that horrific hit to his neck last year.
