It's just about 180 degrees from everything I believe to be true about baseball. So in some ways, I'm taking a perverse pleasure in seeing them suck. I've started watching the Tigers (my hometown) and Rays (model franchise and fun team to watch) before I'll turn on a Phillies game.
In other words... I now know at least part of what it's like to be a Royals fan (minus the money to make mistakes). In fact, I think Joe Poz once wrote a blog about how bad it sucked to root for a team that was run in a completely opposite way to what you believe. That's where I am right now, mentally, with the Phillies. Enjoy Ryan Howard, Rueben Amaro. The worst part is he probably thinks the contract is OK, but you just can't predict injuries.

I have struggled over the years with my allegiance to the Orioles. My love for the Orioles grew from the fact that my father was born and raised in Baltimore. He got me interested in baseball. You guys know how this works. Your dad says you're a fan of this team so you are. With the fact that they have sucked for so long, I can't stand what Angelos has done to the team and considering I haven't spoken to my father in more than 9 years, I don't really see any reason to keep rooting for them. Something just feels wrong about finding another team to root for though and I'm not sure who I would start rooting for at this point. I thought about becoming a Reds fan since they are the closest to Indy, but I'm not really that interested in them.
