Post Game Coach's Thoughts
We didn't play perticularly well all day long, but we did get key turovers including 14 points off of an interception and a fumbled kickoff. The 1st 2 picks we had were the result of good pressure on the QB and the ball being underthrown. The pick we threw was just some bad timing, trying to force the ball upfield near the end of the half.
Offense: We had a good running game. We didn't really do a lot with the passing game, but we didn't really have to do much with it most of the game. The OLine created some nice holes at times and gave us time to throw the ball as well. Hopefully they can do more of the same next week. We did a good job of protecting the ball today as well.
Defense: We played a really balanced defensive game this week, controlling the run game and neutralizing the passing attack. We forced turnovers when we needed to. Not too much more to say about a really solid all around effort.
Special Teams: We need to get better at trying to get some yardage instead of trying to cut back and break a big return on punts. We need to get better at controlling our momentum on punt coverage as well, as we has one kick catch interference call go against us when Dodd was blocked into the return man. We were able to pin them down on the 4 on one punt, and almost forced the safety, if not for a broken tackle by their FB Gross. John Galt will get the punt return nod against Miami.
