CL's #1 Starter is Burns

As
Arnold Burns hoisted up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy for September, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave
Washington once his contract is up at the end of the season.
Burns put pressure on the Freedom to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 2.65 over 37.1 innings last month. He also rolled up 28 strikeouts, increasing his value both to
Washington and to every other team in the league.
This year
Burns has fanned 149 in 203 innings and collected a 11-5 record with a 3.77 ERA.
Sawyer Nets RL #1 Pitcher Award

A 5-0 record with a 1.98 ERA is a pretty good month for most any pitcher. The Republic League thought it was worthy of an award and named
Bill Sawyer, starter for the
Maricopa Rattlers, September's Pitcher of the Month.
He also held the opposition to a .208 average while posting 42 strikeouts in 50 innings.
So far this season
Sawyer has a 23-2 record, 31 starts, 248.2 innings, 236 strikeouts and a 1.81 ERA.
