The game will be free, but they don't have the server capacity for a free to play release (
even without a full release it has 3 times the peak players of any other game on Steam) or things like tutorials for new players in it yet, so you can either buy an invite (which comes with cosmetic items too), sign up and wait for one, or trade for one with someone who has an invite. You are able to install it from the store page, but you'll only have the spectator client which lets you watch games but not play them.
