I started as Epirus (duchy, 4 counties) - lots of fun. What's fascinating is that Byzantines were on a clear downward trend, but there current leader (35 years) has put them on the path to redemption and basically carved up the Sultante of Rum (I've picked a few territories as well). The Golden Horde is on our doorstep, but has yet to pick a fight with either me or the Byzantines - fascinating, but it makes me live in perpetual fear that my game maybe over.
