Get Start8, it will make everything better.
Stardock also put out a program that lets you run Modern apps in a Window. Though i can't say there's anything I'm the Windows 8 store I've been interested in other than Skulls of the Shogun (which not having a windowed mode was kind of a deal breaker for), but I'm just going to wait until that comes to Steam.
